Sounds of Summer

6/16/2019 by Jim

Wasn’t sure if this would be too loud or raucous, but now having lived with our Door County bell for a month I can honestly say that it is a wonderful chime. The sounds coming from the bell even during heavy winds is a deep sonorous tone that truly evokes the sounds of Green Bay. Wonderful memories! We’re thinking of purchasing another different bell for the other side of the house so we will have music no matter the wind direction.More > < Less

A fine buy

This bell hangs by my front door. It sounds exactly like the bell at Cape May! The gentle breezes by my home remind me of those wonderful days fishing wth my family. I highly recommend this if you like the gentle sounds of bells on the ocean.More > < Less

Beyond pleased!

I purchased a North Country Wind Bell for my mom for mother's day. Not only does she love it but everyone who experiences the sound, while sitting on my parent's deck, loves it as well. This chime is so peaceful! My sister-in-law now wants one and I'm ordering for myself.

The product is extremely sturdy and you will need a strong place to hang the chime. This chime is strong enough to handle our Kansas winds!

I promise that you will be so pleased with this product!

Love it, love it, love it!

We LOVE our North Country wind bell! The tough part was deciding which sound we wanted -- there are a lot to choose from and they are all very pleasant. They are a bit pricey, but very well made. I took their suggestion and got a can of clear spray enamel (matte finish) and gave it and the charm several coats before hanging it outside. Looks and sounds great! We hope to enjoy it for many years to come.More > < Less

Received as a Christmas present

I received this as a Christmas present and we couldn’t be more pleased. We were asked to choose our favorite sound and opted for Bar Harbor buoy. The sound is rich and full, not little “tinkles” like so many other wind chimes. We have nice breezes the majority of the time and enjoy this so much. There is obvious pride in the materials and craftsmanship that goes into these. They’re beautiful in appearance and sound.More > < Less

About North Country Wind Bells

Sound Of The Sea

Jim Davidson was a lobsterman in Maine for years. Buoy bells chiming as he hauled in his lobster traps was a favorite sound—equal parts peaceful and melodic, and an indicator that he was safely close to harbor.

Jim was so enamored with the sound that he and his wife, May, began creating their own wind chimes to capture it. Their North Country Wind Bells are made at home in Maine and capture the tones of over 20 coastal and harbor bells.

Each location has a distinctive sound—from Bar Harbor to San Francisco—that Jim and May have carefully recreated. They started by recording as many local bells as they could. They then fine-tuned their own bells by ear until the sound was just right.

The bells and windcatchers are crafted from recycled steel by many of the locals in the Davidsons' small town, and should last for at least 20 years of coastal-inspired sound.
