Mermaid Tail Blanket

Cozy & Covered

A mermaid tail blanket turns lounging on the couch into an adventure under the sea. OK, that might be stretching it—but one of the ocean-inspired designs from Seatail is certain to keep legs cozy, and with charm to spare.

Founder Julie Kluh has always loved the ocean. She channeled her own inner mermaid when she created these
whimsical, comfortable blankets.

For small kids, a tail made from plush minky fleece will keep them toasty warm during naps, at bedtime, or during some make-believe fun. For older kids and grown-up mermaids, the knitted tails are made with super soft cotton yarn. The scalloped detailing, hand-tied tassels, and sparkly sequins make these tails more sophisticated—but no less fun.

Hi. I'm a 4'6" woman. Yeah, I know, I'm child sized. Will the children's one fit me? I love this! I'm not a good swimmer but I always thought it would be cool to be a mermaid. Now I can be a mermaid and I don't have to be a good swimmer! LOL Plus, it will keep me warm in the cold New England winters. Great idea!

@Gail Hi Gail! Thank you! Yes, I do believe you will fit into the kids tail at 4'6". I am only 5 feet tall and I can squeeze in, so I'm sure you will fit great! I'll be in Maine for the holidays, can't wait to visit New England for a winter holiday! Stay cozy :)

Hi! Is the Knit Tail Blanket machine washable?

@Lori Hi Lori! No, the knit tail can not be washed in the machine (it can ruin the tassels and snag because of the tiny sequins), it requires hand washing. The kids tails can be machine washed and dried :)

I can't help but notice the similarity to the mermaid blankets sold by other online sites. Where did you get your inspiration?

@Sarah Hi Sarah! Dresslily is a discount fast-fashion website that sells trending clothes, often made popular by small designers (like me :) They just pick-up on what's hot and get it for cheap. They started selling mermaid tail blankets after mine became popular. In the video The Grommet made, they talk about where I got my inspiration, check it out! :)

Hi Julie. Do these blankets stretch a decent amount to fit larger body types? I'd love to get one for my grown daughter for Christmas. She is a plus size woman who loves mermaids! Thanks

@Jeanne Hi Jeanne! The knit blanket does have a satin liner, so there is not a lot of stretch with that. It will fit up to a size 12 comfortably, and a few sizes more, but might be a little snug. I am working on a plus size tail and I hope to have it available soon! :)

In the kids' version, do both the tail and body section allow space for putting one;s feet into, or is the trail section just an adornment?

@david Hi David! Your feet can go all the way into the fin, right to the bottom :)
