Honey Soles

A Step Forward

Honey Soles Maker and avid boat-shoe wearer Brad Sunness loved the feeling of going sockless, but not the side effects. Achy feet and not-so-fresh shoes lead him to try many types of insoles and other solutions, but nothing gave him the foot-friendly results he was looking for. After researching different materials and prototyping several designs, Brad honed in on cork for its natural antibacterial and antifungal properties. He paired the moisture-wicking material with a layer of recycled rubber foam for better shock absorption and he gave the insoles a contoured design that offers arch support and increased heel stability. Brad got great feedback from folks who felt like the insoles were custom made for their feet. Requests for a cold weather version soon followed. He created Bear Soles that have all the benefits of Honey Soles with an added layer of plush Australian sheepskin. Either way you go, Brad’s insoles will help keep feet happy with every step.

Quick Questions

How does the sizing work for multiple shoe sizes? Will I need to trim the insoles?

Because of variation in the shoe industry sizes, Honey Soles are full-length insoles that span 1.5 sizes per pair. This should fit most shoes in that range, but sometimes you may need to trim the insoles to fit.

Do these provide a specific type of arch support?

Honey Soles have a supportive, contoured design, which helps with posture, alignment, and arch support. They especially help with over-pronation which is the leading cause of plantar fasciitis.

Are these an insert or a true insole?

They're designed as insole replacements that fit best in footwear with removable insoles. They will work for many shoes that don't have removable insoles, but the shoe must have an extra 1/4 inch of depth.

How often should you replace these?

Honey Soles products last approximately 12 months (or more) depending on various factors like body weight, body mechanics, and frequency of use. And should be switched out for a new pair every year to maintain good arch support and odor-fighting properties.

What is the benefit of cork?

The cork material is soft and smooth against the bottom of the foot. Cork is also breathable and naturally antibacterial, which helps with moisture control and odor. They also use an open-cell foam that's shock absorbing and a grooved cork/rubber composite heel cup to offer added stability and support for walking long distances.
