Brush for Good

The Humble Brush is a totally different take on a toothbrush. It’s eco-friendly and has a mission to help improve oral health around the world. For each toothbrush sold, the Humble Smile Foundation funds oral care for those who typically go without. With ergonomic bamboo handles, these toothbrushes offer a smooth, pleasant grip. The soft, colorful nylon bristles are a fun design detail. The handle and interior packaging are biodegradable, too. Noel Abdayem, a dental surgeon, is familiar with how important it is to have healthy gums and teeth. Poor oral health can lead to high blood pressure, heart disease, and many other serious issues. But preventive dental care is often overlooked—especially in developing countries. He founded Humble Brush to help turn the tide, one mouth at a time. In the process, Noel created an earth-friendly toothbrush that is as good for the planet as it is for your smile.

Guys, this is so awesome! I am in the market for a new toothbrush and if it helps someone else who needs it more than me in the process, all the better. Great, great work!

    Hello Kathleen,

All of our adult brushes are soft bristles!

We use a nylon-6 bristle because it has a lower hardness (which is good for your teeth) and a lower water absorption (which is good for keeping your brush hygienic) compared to other types of nylon.

The carbon footprint of nylon is comparable to wool¹ and the nylon-6 we use is biodegradable over time. We’re proud to say that our bristles are produced by DuPont, the first major manufacturer of nylon bristles with over 70 years of experience.

what is the "shelf life" of the bristles? Once the bristles are used up, the whole toothbrush must be replaced, [email protected], Darren and Garry

Hi Barbara, thanks for the questions! Humble Brush should be replaced at the same rate as a regular toothbrush, about every 3 months. And yes, the entire toothbrush will need to be replaced.

I go through toothbrushes quickly, so it's nice to think my small contribution is helping others elsewhere.

I love that you use part of your income to help others. We've been buying bamboo toothbrushes from somewhere else and they were a tiny bit cheaper, but we will happily pay a few cents more per brush for the privilege of supporting your cause. I also like that the bristles are different colors so everyone can tell his or her brush from the others without having to write on them with an icky permanent marker. It's a small thing, but it's a great touch.
