FitKicks

Flexible Fitness & Travel Shoes

Everywhere Shoe

Indoors, FitKicks are the perfect slippers. Outdoors, they’re versatile shoes that are ready to walk, head to the gym, or hit the beach. They fold up to become on-the-go shoes, and as relief from other uncomfortable footwear, they’re perfect bliss.

FitKicks let you do pretty much anything in comfort. The ergonomic design conforms to your foot, and is breathable and durable. Stretchy spandex uppers and Flex Form soles allow
free range of motion and make it easy to point and flex your toes. Protective toe guards help prevent wear, too. You can even opt for a pair lined in plush fleece to treat your toes to cozy warmth.

Founder Shelly Marks designed FitKicks for active people to wear no matter what they’re doing, from commuting to communing with nature. We think her slippers-meets-shoes combination will be the most multifaceted (and beloved) pair you’ll own.

Hello everyone! I'm proud to introduce FitKicks to The Grommet. I'd be happy to answer any questions you have!

Are these supposed to be worn without socks or is it ok to wear with socks? I'm kinda concerned about the "stinky feet" factor.

  • Sam
    Sam – Special Guest
    9/18/2015 12:34 PM

@Jodi They're designed to wear without socks but there's no reason why you cannot wear them with socks. The breathability minimizes sweat and therefore "stink" factor.

Unfortunately not, Marietta. But as has been mentioned throughout the board, providing feedback like you have can be a huge help for Fitkicks as they continue to develop their product line, so thank you very much for the comment!

@Mike Yes, I also wear an 11. There really is no such thing as a 10.5 shoe size in women's shoes. Really sad to see that, once again, a size 11 is left out of the 'normal' range. :-(

I know the size guide reads "true to size." My shoe size is a size 8 but occasionally can be a 8.5. I don't want to cram my toes into them but I don't want them to be so big I can't keep them on either. Do you have a suggestion what size I should order. Will they stretch out a bit with wear?

  • Paula
    Paula
    9/18/2015 12:47 PM

@Sam...I was wondering the same as @Christy and @Candice. I wear a 9 but sometimes I need a 9.5 because my second toe is larger than my big toe. With the sole of the shoe being slanted, even though they stretch on top, they don't stretch on the bottom, so I wouldn't want my toes extending over the sole of the shoe. If I order the Large (8.5-9), do you think I'll be ok. I'm afraid the XL will be too large...

Love this idea and I'm really looking forward to trying them out!

  • Sam
    Sam – Special Guest

You MUST NOT DISCRIMINATE - You must make FitKicks for MEN - we make up 50.24% of the world market. Personally, I have a Charcot Marie Tooth foot problem and these would be perfect for around the house, travel slips while on air travel etc. Re-think your market. I would need 11/11.5 wide. If not going to market to men - do you have a problem with me making the same product to solely market to men.

  • Sam
    Sam – Special Guest
    9/18/2015 1:04 PM

@Fred We will give it serious consideration. Thanks for your feedback.

  • Mike
    Mike – Grommet Team
    9/18/2015 1:11 PM

Hi Fred, we appreciate your interest in the product and thank you for giving Fitkicks an idea of the demand for males. And you're right, they are perfect for around the house and travel!

But just to be clear, this is not discriminatory. Fitkicks are marketed towards women and there is nothing wrong with that. They've clearly had plenty of success in selling to them because here they are. If you want to make a product like this for men, there is certainly no one here stopping you. Unless of course Fitkicks beats you to it. You did kind of just give them the idea...

Also, I don't know if "solely market to men" was an intentional pun, but, if so, nice one!

Hi Liz, thanks for the comment. The soles are 1/4" thick. I am not sure how that compares with the other footwear you mentioned, but they are probably slightly less padding than the barefoot running shoes. That is not really the functionality Fitkicks provides. It's more of an "on-the-go" shoe rather than a running shoe.

@Guest Grommet co-founder here. We really work hard to keep our prices aligned with the general market. We also spend a lot of time testing our Grommets to be sure they are worth your time and attention. Sites like Groupon are more "in and out" and opportunistic, selling discontinued inventory. Fitkicks had some adhesion issues with its linings in earlier versions--those may be the Groupon inventory. We see this "discontinued inventory" confusion a lot with items for sale on Amazon, eBay and flash sale sites. And yes, we are also awesome--because of all the work we do to make sure what we offer is worth your trust.

Just placed an order and expedited it. Recovering from a broken toe and under advice to try and workout to get normal movement back. Haven't been able to cope with a running shoe and barefoot has been challenging so these look like just the trick for me. Plus they look comfy for wearing around the house once the weather starts to get colder as I find slippers a bit too warm at times. Will let you know how they go.

  • Sam
    Sam – Special Guest
    9/18/2015 2:25 PM

@Cheryl The fitkicks are not designed with arch support, and yes, they are flat like ballet shoes but with a thicker, more durable sole.

  • Cheryl
    Cheryl
    9/18/2015 2:31 PM

@Sam Are the sides firm enough to support inserts? I have been wearing those terry cloth ballet slippers with leather soles for years and am now paying the pain price for it. They simply will not work with arch/plantar inserts because the sides are soft terry with nothing to cradle the insert around the foot.

Does the edge around the ankle fit more like a sock and cling or a shoe and allow a little more room? And if it's more like a sock, how stretchable is it? I also saw that they don't have any arch support, but can they support putting in our own arch inserts?

  • Sam
    Sam – Special Guest
    9/18/2015 3:32 PM

@Lindsay The elastic part is more like a sock that stretches up to an inch or so, so it wouldn't support arch inserts.

  • Sam
    Sam – Special Guest

Does the inside sole of this shoe ccome out? I have a terrible time with water shoes because the inner sole creeps forward, brunching up around my toes. It is very uncomfortable. If I take the inner sole out, the perforations in the bottom of the shoe hurt my feet. I am lookking for a water shoe that is not going to separate while I am exercising.

I have exceptionally large feet, and they're quite furry as well. 1. Would these fit me and 2. Would my feet smell from them? I'm mostly concerned about breathability. Also, how durable is the sole? I spend a lot of time hiking in the forest. Thanks!

  • Mike
    Mike – Grommet Team
    9/18/2015 7:26 PM

Hey there Sasquatch! First of all, it's an honor. Secondly, does this mean The Grommet found you? Because that would be awesome.

At any rate, given folklore, I am not sure if they would fit your feet at least for now. Larger sizes are coming. Though to be sure, you should probably send a picture. Just so we have visual confirmation. The fur isn't a problem either way. So don't worry about that.

Breathability is just what you are looking for, but durabilty may come up short of what you want. They are not meant to replace hiking boots. Again, thanks for the comment! Hope to hear from you again soon!
