Double Helix Grill Brush

Don't Bristle

The Double Helix Grill Brush is an innovative way to clean your grill—because it doesn’t have any bristles. Instead, this bristle-free BBQ brush has two flexible-yet-sturdy coils that efficiently scrape the grates.

It’s a safer way to clean. Even the Centers for Disease Control warns grillers about the dangers of metal brush
bristles coming off and ending up in your food. The Double Helix Brush has nothing that could become dislodged.

Plus, Brushtech BBQ Grill Brush has a six-inch base that covers more surface area on the tops and sides of the grates. And the long handle lets you grab hold with two hands—which helps you use some elbow grease to clean effectively. When you’re done, this brush is dishwasher safe. Bring it inside and get it totally clean, instead of leaving it outside where it could attract critters and insects.

Brushtech started making innovative brushes like this in 1976. Years later, they still proudly create a line of brushes that are unique, effective, and Made in the USA. This summer, clean your grill better—and more safely—with a brush that leaves nothing behind.

Just bought a Weber grill and they recommend a "softer" grill brush. Does this meet that recommendation?

@David the springs are made of galvanized steel, they work on cast iron, porcelain, and stainless steel grills. It should work fine on your Weber!

@Zaven Hooray for working on porcelain. That's what i have. You might state that in your written statement about the product. I had to look in the conversations to get that info.

Hi Karla, for standard ground shipping it shouldn't be that high. You can contact our Consumer Experience Team here if you think there might be an error or you could purchase two more for anyone you know who might be eating bristles with their burgers and get free shipping!

@ELIZABETH I just ordered two and the shipping was less than $6. Not at all a surprise given how long it is (and given UPS and USPS now charge a big premium for items that are long.) But then I added something from my Grommet wish list (which always has a half dozen things on it) and got my total charge over $50 so the shipping is free. I love free shipping from The Grommet

Fair question, Dale, but now you don't have to. We found a way to greatly reduce shipping costs. Also, you shouldn't have had to pay $50 to ship anywhere. We'll look into it to see if there is an issue. Unless you are trying to ship to space...

Have you mailed anything lately? Sadly, this sounds right for shipping. The post office and UPS both measure the size of the package as well as the weight. It cost me over $20 to mail a ver light weight pair of shoes. Shipping costs are horrible now.

This product looks amazing but I have to admit that this site has a few issues... #1 - 91367 is not in Canada, it's actually Woodland Hills, CA. #2 - $14 to ship a 6oz item from PA to CA seems excessive. The Grommet seems to have a lot of great products, I hope the issues mentioned can be addressed.

Yeah just adding to the fire about shipping. $10.30 to ship to me. I know this product would not be over $6 shipping through the post office and thats priority shipping.

Also seems a bit to long for a standard grill

  • Mike
    Mike – Grommet Team
    5/27/2015 3:38 PM

Hi James, the length is to protect yourself from the hit grill. It's also the reason why shipping was so high, but we have found a way to bring down the costs by nearly 50%!

  • Jj

    5/27/2015 1:21 PM

Wow, I was giving this serious thought, until I too saw the shipping costs. Is this being looked into?

My other question is: What is the average 'life span' of this product? I understand it will vary with how often used, washed and such, thus the "average"....

Thanks - this is looking like something I want - just paying more for shipping then the item costs is ... well ... not going to happen.

    Jj ...

  • Mike
    Mike – Grommet Team
    5/27/2015 3:37 PM

Hi JJ, it has been looked into and we have found a way to reduce shipping costs by nearly 50%!

As far as the lifespan, the average lifespan is far longer than that of a traditional brush and if properly cared for, should last you quite a while.

@Mike Try a two part brush that will snap together for permanent assembly. Should be square or triangle at snap in orifice to prevent brush from spinning. This should allow for a much smaller aoverall package and bring shipping costs within 8%-10% of cost.

@Linda If other grommet items were purchased at the same time would it provide free shipping? I have been wanting to order from this site but shipping is a big cost

  • Mike
    Mike – Grommet Team
    5/27/2015 2:40 PM

Hi Linda, we agree. It's the size of the box that makes it tricky and tripped us up. The product is 21" long to keep your hand safe from a hot grill and that is just big enough to require a larger box which is driving up the cost. We are in the process of looking into creative solutions to bring down the shipping as it is very clearly an important issue.

  • Mike
    Mike – Grommet Team
    5/27/2015 2:42 PM

Jimmy, it would if your order totaled higher than $50. We understand shipping is a big part of the purchase which is why we are looking into all avenues to bring it down. Stay tuned!

@Mike - aka-lightening in a bottle. Thanks for manning the board so expertly. We had rating problems with our shipping carriers - we have an unusual size box that their rating system didn't like. I think you should find that situation rectified now as The Grommet normalized the fee this by covering the excessive cost.

  • Mike

Hi Eleanor, the handle is about 9.5" long and it is about 17" from the V-shaped opening to the base of the handle leaving plenty of distance between you and a grill!

I was in the operating room at the hospital the other day and was surprised to learn from an anesthesiologist that he is shocked regarding the number of patients he works on in the OR who have needed emergency surgery due to metal bristles being left from grill cleaning, ingested and then piercing the stomach or intestines. After this unsolicited discussion, I never use bristles for cleaning my grill. I would rather eat grit!

  • Mike
    Mike – Grommet Team
    5/27/2015 5:18 PM

That's exactly the sort of terrible situation Brushtech can help you avoid. I never considered it to be such a prevalent issue, but knowing what I do now about bristles, I'm never using a traditional brush again. I'm all for bristle-free barbecuing!
