Sand Repellent Blanket

Beach Buffer

For those of us who love sunny days at the beach—but not bringing the sand home—there’s Lagu.

This beach blanket’s allergen-free fabric actually repels sand. So you can relax on the beach in comfort, and go home without bringing half the beach with you. But there’s more to Lagu than just keeping you sand-free—this is a beach
blanket with a mission.

Sand depletion at beaches is a serious concern. In fact, a university study suggests that every beachgoer unintentionally takes at least three handfuls of sand away each visit. Add it up, and that’s a lot of beach that goes bye-bye.

When one Grommet team member tried out this sand-repellent beach blanket, she was sold. It dries fast, is environmentally friendly, and it’s easy to roll up. (The label wraps and snaps around the blanket, making it simple to tote.)

Kendrick Co created Lagu after returning to a popular resort in the Philippines. He noticed the beach was narrower than he remembered. Lagu was his way of helping to reverse this trend: less sand on your blanket, more on the beach.

@Eric Our team is looking into developing bigger sizes down the line, but in the meantime do try it out. Most find our beach blankets spacious enough for a day at the beach. =)

Worry not, Eileen, it sounds like a larger size could be in the works soon!

For me, what's missing in a LARGE beach blanket. Beach blankets are like those little throws you see everywhere to put on your legs on feet on a cool night sitting around, or airplane blankets! Seriously! The whole time you're fighting for the part of your body that is uncovered. People will pay more for a full sized beach blanket! Otherwise, the idea is great!

Thanks for the kind words, Romayne! Hearing there's a strong market for the product Lagu is looking to develop, must be music to Kendrick's ears.

I agree with another comment. For me, a 5ft x 7ft would be more attractive. One could also use that size, and other larger sizes as a ground cloth for beach tent camping. It is such a pain to pack up one's tent and take a lb of sand with it, to be cleaned up later once you're away from all of the sand.

And the market grows stronger! Good news, Ken, it sounds like you're not going to be taking the beach with you for very much longer!

Do you only offer the blankets in 43" x 57"? Do you have a larger size?

Hi Sari, currently the 43" x 57" is the only size available, but it sounds like a larger size could be in the works in the future!
