Laser Pegs

Lighted Construction Set.

Light Up

Dozens of toy building pegs plus tiny LED lights equals glow-in-the-dark awesomeness!

Laser Pegs is the world's first lighted construction set, and the building pieces light up and flash when you connect them. You can build toy models -- with fun names like Wicked King Cobra, Robo Mutt and Baja Jumper -- or create your own free-form designs. The multicolored lights add a new dimension to your bug-eyed monsters, and your four-wheeled vehicles will glow like supernatural transporters.

Jon Capriola, father of twin toddler
boys, is the inventor of Laser Pegs. There are all sorts of translucent pegs in the 72-piece kit, including straight pegs, squares, t-shaped elements, wheels, and 45-and 90-degree angles. Each plastic peg has a colored LED light inside. When you snap the pegs together, it sends a low-voltage current between the pieces, providing the power to light the pegs. The set also includes a power base, cord and 3 AA batteries to operate the lights.

You can follow the instructions to build Jon’s models, or you can make your own one-of-a-kind designs. For kids and grownups alike, the possibilities are endlessly illuminating.

Grommet Launch Conversation

Hi Daily Grommet fans, I'm Jon Capriola the inventor of Laser Pegs. I wasn't born an inventor however I do believe strongly that life has an act of leading you into "the right" career path! When you have an idea that gets you excited, I feel it's a must to see it through to reality only if the idea makes sense. That is just what I did with Laser Pegs due to the fact it's like combining two of the best toys ever made (Lite Brite and Lego's) into one innovative toy! My twin boys motivated me to revolutionize the entire toy construction set arena. If you have a kid in your life who loves to build or you're just a big kid in an adult body then this is THE gift that will make them or yourself smile from ear to ear this holiday season!

I am here to answer any questions you have.

You say this can be used as a nightlight. Does it shut off after a certain period of time? Great idea.

It is not designed to shut off automatically at this time, but a chipset with a timing feature has been discussed for a future revision. Great question!

A couple of other things I would like to say about leaving the toy on continuously as a night light is that the LED's draw very little power vs a regular bulb, they will stay lit for years, and they also have a comforting influence for small children should they awaken in the middle of the night.

Love this Grommet! What set would you recommend for two kids - the 72 piece has more pegs, but the 60 piece has two power bases?

We would recommend the 60 piece, "4 in 1" kit for two kids because it has the two power bases.

@Jewel: Isn't this a fun one. It's one of those you get for the kids just so you can play with it yourself! It is recommended for ages 7 and up.

I am a 64 year old kid who purchased a set. Great idea, but quality control is an issue. The pieces do not all fit together snugly, resulting in the circuit being broken so all the LEDs' do not light up and you have a hard time keeping your structure from falling apart. There were also a couple of the pieces that fell apart due to failure of the glue join.

@Robert Cooley: Thank you for letting us know about your experience. This was not our experience when we tested this product. I will be contacting you directly to get your product exchanged for a new set.

@ Robert Cooley. First off I'd like to thank you for purchasing one of my products. The Laser Pegs have a lifetime guarantee on all parts, and my company also has a 90 day, no questions asked return policy. Simply ship the part that you had an issue back to our warehouse and we will replace it at no cost to you.

Can you buy extra pieces without powerstation (for example if you get the 60 piece set, can you buy extra pieces?)?

@Tracy: Yes, you will be able to purchase additional pieces directly from Jon's site!

I love your web site with all the examples of what they can make. I think we need a drawing program so students could design objects and send to you. Kind of like a stamping process. Power Point drop and drag. How about a club where students could get together and create. How about a LaserPeg contest or workshop.

Trust me when I tell you that this is one of the coolest toys that my son has ever played with! The one thing I would add about using the toy as a night light is that you would want to purchase their AC Power Accessory which is sold seperately. This will free you from having to use batteries, and it allows the kids to leave the low voltage lights on all night! Great product!

@Misty Phiffer: Unfortunately, we are sold out of Laser Pegs for the season, but we did not have the power base available separately.
