In the loop

The founder and creator of Lombardi Leather, Francis Lombardi, has always loved the look, feel, and even the smell of leather. But, he hasn’t always been a belt maker. He spent the better part of his adult life working in finance and manufacturing. The idea for a buckle free belt was born out of necessity—he wanted a belt that wouldn’t scratch the back of his guitar when he played. The result was a unique and innovative design that Francis brought to life with his own two hands. The more he wore it, the more compliments he received. The rest is Lombardi Leather history. Each buckle free belt features exposed stitching and is handcrafted using 100% genuine high quality leather from a 4th generation American tanner. Available in traditional blacks and browns as well as vibrant colors that Francis and his team hand dye in their NY studio, Lombardi Leatherwraps bring a fresh new twist to the belt business. Move over buckles, there is a lovely loop closure coming to a pair of pants near you.

Looks like you would not have to take this belt off to go through the TSA checkpoints at the airport. I always have an issue with that.

@Jim Subject to over-achieving TSA Agents, many of our customers sail through the TSA checkpoint without dropping the pants! (No guarantees).

The are all so lovely it is hard to determine which to get.

@Kathy Kathy, this is a common conundrum for our customers as we have tried to make each color unique and desirable. It is a challenge for sure to pick the color over the internet. Pick your favorite color and give one a try. Once you see the craftsmanship, you may be inclined to buy another :). Thanks for the compliments.

Your belts are lovely. But for those of us that are trying to switch over to vegan options do you hope to offer anything besides leather? You also spoke about where the leather is obtained perhaps you can speak to that also?

@Julie Julie, thanks for the compliments! We currently source all of our leather from a US tannery that uses the "vegetable" tanning process. This old-world process utilizes natural tannins(tree bark), natural tallow and other natural proprietary ingredients to transform the hides into a workable balance of strength and temper. No chromium salts are used in the tanning process.

We have not considered pure synthetic leather substitutes as we feel the conversion/manufacturing process for synthetics are often far more damaging to our environment than the full-circle use of the leather as a by-product of the omnivore's food chain. We hope that you understand and look forward to having you as a happy wearer of our belt if it is agreeable for you.

@Francis I don't understand your belt sizes. Are they inches? If so, can you make something larger than a 44? I'm a plus-size woman of discerning taste...and Lombardi buckleless belts have passed my test, with honors!

I have never used belts with a buckle. So, how would I measure? Just around the waist? I certainly want to order one of your belts but want to get the measurements right.
