Lovin' Summer

Beach Tents and Blankets

Beach Better

Pitch this beautiful beach tent to enjoy UV-protection and the summer breeze under a single roof.

You’ll be able to get your dose of sand, wind, and water minus the harmful rays. The tent’s canvas has UPF 40 to block 97% of UV rays and an A-line design that stays put even with brisk summer winds.

Aussie Makers Jackie and Kellie
are well acquainted with the thrills and perils of beach going, with their nation having some of highest UV levels in the world. So they decided to equip you with the best gear.

They didn’t stop at the tent. Their oversized beach towel has a velour top, terry bottom, and beautiful tassel trim so you have room to spread out and soak up the sun. Its lightweight design dries itself and you off quickly.

We hope Jackie and Kellie keep putting their creative minds together, letting us enjoy more elegant, practical designs.

You guys need to invent a small portable low table to use at the beach for glasses and sandwiches. Soft, small, foldable, light weight, storable etc. You get the idea. Maybe a roll up thing that could go in a beach bag. Get cracking, summer is here in NC! Best wishes, Dr. Don DiGiulian@Kellie and Jackie

    Hi @Hilda!

Unfortunately we don't have a video to showcase how to set it up, but I've included step by step instructions from the Maker here for you:

    Beach Tent Set Up Instructions

STEP 1 Lay down the centre cross bar pole on the ground where you would like to set up your tent. Place one yellow pole holder at each end of the cross bar and hammer it in with the mallet. Then insert the two vertical poles into the pole holders. Lift the centre cross bar pole and attach it on top of the spikes of the vertical poles. You now have a freestanding structure.

STEP 2 Place the tent over the structure and insert the spikes of the vertical poles through desired tent rings.

STEP 3 Insert the peg into the sand at a 45 degree angle of the tent corner with a mallet then loop through the rope on the corner of the tent through the peg and attach the clip back onto the rope. Repeat for all corners. Then revisit each corner and slide the clip further up the rope to fasten until taut.

Use the different rings on the tent to optimise shade angles from sun.

    I hope this helps!

@Kellie and Jackie - how long does set up take ? do i need any tools ?

  • Mike
    Mike – Grommet Team
    5/12/2017 9:35 AM

    Hi @Eric

Set up only takes a few minutes, and one person can handle it comfortably. The only tool you need is a mallet to hammer in the pegs, and that's included with the tent itself.

@Kellie and Jackie What's the set-up like? How do the poles and ends get secured? We deal with a lot of wind on the Atlantic. Thanks!

  • Mike
    Mike – Grommet Team
    5/12/2017 9:38 AM

    Hi @haleh,

Set-up is really easy! The poles are secured by hammering in pole holders into the sand, while the ends are secured by pegs that secured in the same way.

The pole holder and pegs help keep it stable in the wind.

How does the tent stay put in the sand?

  • Mike

    5/12/2017 9:40 AM

    Hi @colleen,

The poles of the tent and the ropes are hammered into the sand via pole holders and mallets. That way, it stays stable and upright for you.

    Hi @stefanie,

It's really easy! One person can set it up in a matter of minutes.

@Kellie and Jackie Hi! Great product! I'm looking for a beach umbrella that will accommodate about six chairs. I notice what looks like additional rivets along the edge. Is it possible to use a second set of poles and increase the width of the seating area underneath? I realize that will shorten the drop of the sides. Marjee

    5/12/2017 9:55 AM

    Hi @Marjee,

The poles that come with the Lovin' Summer are specifically designed to attach to the tent, so other poles won't work as well to keep it upright.

But, we certainly encourage you to try it out and give us your feedback!

@Kellie and Jackie Hi! Love the looks of the tent but do you have a picture of the stakes that go in the sand? Just want to see how "grounded" the tent will be

  • Mike

    5/12/2017 9:59 AM

    Hi @Mary Helen,

I'm sorry to say that we don't have any photos handy of the stakes, but they are designed to keep the tent stable and won't fall over. You can use it either on sand or grass with equal effect.

@Kellie and Jackie Hi, I bought the beach tent last year and loved it so much that I bought a second one to have as a back-up or to have an extra tent when we're down at the beach with a lot of friends and family. What was most difficult with my purchase last year was to decide which print to have, because I loved them all (what a terrible problem, right?). I was wondering if it were possible to purchase just the fabric, so I can change up my beach look from time to time.

    Hi @miriam,

That's so great that you've had a good experience with Lovin Summer! We don't sell the fabric separately, unfortunately, it just comes bundled with the full tent set.

    Thank you for the suggestion!

    @Kellie and Jackie

What are the dimensions when packed for carrying? Thanks

  • Mike
    Mike – Grommet Team
    5/12/2017 10:04 AM

    Hi @Karen,

When it's packed up for carrying, it comes in a nice carrying bag (you can view a photo on the product page).

The bag is as long as the poles, but is very easy to sling over your back or carry with the handles.

  • Chris
    5/11/2017 2:09 PM

@Kellie and Jackie Hi, really like the idea. I wish there was part of the video that shows how the tent is stored. I don't see it on your website either...maybe I am missing something. Does it come with a bag? Also seems pretty expensive when I compare to what other options there are. Why is it so expensive?

  • Mike
    Mike – Grommet Team
    5/12/2017 10:07 AM

    Hi @Chris,

The tent does come with a nice carrying bag that you can sling over your back or carry with handles. You can view a photo of that on the product page.

As far as price, that's down to the quality of the materials used. The tent is 100% cotton fabric that's also blocks more than 97.5% of UV rays. Not to mention the time and development that goes in to a new, independent Maker designing a unique product like this one!

@Kellie and Jackie Do the tent poles collapse or fold down to fit in a suitcase so you can travel with it?

  • Mike
    Mike – Grommet Team
    5/12/2017 10:09 AM

    Hi @Lisa,

The tent poles don't fold down to fit in a suitcase, but it does come with it's own convenient carry bag that you can travel with.

  • Rhonda

@Kellie and Jackie Hello. The beach we go to has pretty high winds and often collapses other canopies. How does this stand up to wind?

  • Mike
    Mike – Grommet Team
    5/12/2017 10:11 AM

    Hi @Rhonda,

With the stakes and pegs used to secure it down, along with a design that's meant to encourage airflow this will stand up to most beach winds.

  • marjorie
    5/11/2017 11:30 AM

How much does it weigh? I like the canopy idea but never liked how heavy it is to bring out. Your design is very nice.

  • Mike
    Mike – Grommet Team

    Hi @marjorie!

The tent weighs 9lbs, so it's not too hard to move around.

  • Brenda
    5/11/2017 11:33 AM

HI. How bulky is the packaging to carry to the beach and once there, what are the steps for assembly?

  • Mike
    Mike – Grommet Team
    5/12/2017 9:53 AM

    Hi @Brenda,

The packaging is a little long to accommodate the poles, but all in all it weighs 9 lbs and isn't too hard to transport.

If you look at my response to Hilda above, you can find the step by step instructions!
