Does the Extension Cord Case Reel come with the wall mount bracket shown in the video? Does the Extension Cord Open Storage Reel also come with that wall mount bracket? And besides the fact that the Cord Case Reel comes with an 80' extension cord, are there other differences between that and the Open Storage Reel?

  • Becky
    Becky – Special Guest
    10/10/2017 12:10 PM

@Rick The extension cord reel does not come with the wall mount, that needs to be purchased separately. The main difference in the reels is the cord length that comes with it. The 80ft has 80ft where as the open reel can be used with any extension cord you have around the housr

I am a little confused. The photo shows a yellow cord and black cords on the side. Is the yellow cord supplied? What plugs into the wall outlet? If it is the yellow cord, then you would have to unplug it to wind and unwind the spool correct? You would also need to leave several feet of the plug end hanging out or it wouldn't reach the outlet.

But if the black cord goes to the outlet, it would make a lot more sense.

  • Becky
    Becky – Special Guest
    10/10/2017 12:16 PM

@Andy the yellow cord is what comes with the unit. THis would be in the 80ft length that you are seeing. Since the unit has four outlets, the black cord you are seeing is one that you plug in to our reel. For instance, you plug the yellow reel in to any outlet and wind out the 80ft of cord on to your driveway. You can then plug in a vac, a radio or any other item you may have. That image shows how the reel works

    10/10/2017 12:18 PM

@Donald The case reel only comes with one foot of cord length to allow you to use an extension cord you have around the house. The 80ft reels comes with 80ft of cord so you have no need to use an extension cord of your own

When the extension cord is fully wound, how is the plug/end secured - To keep it from unwinding.

    Wire gauge? UL approved?

  • Becky
    Becky – Special Guest
    10/10/2017 12:20 PM

@Alexander Wire gauge is 14AWG. Yes, this is UL approved. Once the cord is reeled in, the holder keeps it from unwinding. Since this is a reel it only unwinds when you pull it out. It's not a loose cord that just will come undone.

In watching the video, I see that there is a 40ft. reel option that is a more boxed in style; however, it is not a drop down option when choosing the extension cord case reel. I assume the 40ft. is the $29.95 option? Is it just out of stock at this time or not available at all? Also, IF the 40ft. is available, can it be mounted using the storage reel mount wall bracket or does it have to sit on the floor or shelf?

  • Vivi

    10/10/2017 2:16 PM

@Gena Hi Gena! Yes, the 40 foot style is $29.95. We definitely have them available at The Grommet but unfortunately, it looks like they are currently sold out. Hopefully we'll have them back in a week or so, since this is a new launch for us!

Also another question... The photo of the 40ft. reel in the email of today's launch and at the beginning of the video shows the label on the front of the reel reflecting a 5 year warranty, but in the other images toward the end of the video as well as written in the description says a 3 year warranty. Do all 3 reel options only have the 3 year warranty or does the 40ft. have a 5 year warranty?

  • Vivi
    Vivi – Grommet Team
    10/10/2017 2:42 PM

@Gena The Masterplug Reels all come with a 3-year warranty. I double-checked, and the 40 foot reel will also come with a 3-year warranty.
