MEATER

Grill Guide

MEATER is a smart meat thermometer that takes the guesswork out of getting just-right doneness when you’re grilling and roasting meat. It works in tandem with an app to ensure perfectly tasty results, every time. The wireless stainless steel probe reads meat’s temperature and the ambient temperature in a grill or oven. The app keeps things simple and is easy to use. Choose what you’re cooking (like steak or chicken) and it will send alerts, estimated cooking times, and warnings to your phone. It’s a great tool if you’re a beginner cook or a distracted host who doesn’t want to be chained to the grill or stuck in the kitchen. The idea to create a more connected (but freeing) way to stay on top of what you’re cooking was sparked by co-founders Joseph and Teh-Moo at a barbecue—of course. We like how they kept the technology simple so anyone can use MEATER to get great results.

Quick Questions

Can the MEATER app track more than one thermometer at once? Does the app let you know when you need to flip the meat?

Absolutely! The app can track up to four separate MEATER thermometers.

There's no notification to flip the meat because people will sear at different temperatures. There are two preferred methods of cooking with the MEATER:
1) Sear: Sear (without MEATER) at high heat 1 min/side of the meat, then insert MEATER and finish cooking with indirect heat using the app.
2) Reverse sear: Cook the steak using MEATER low and slow (e.g. low temperature in the oven or indirect heat on the grill). Follow the app instructions and let it hit the target temperature. Remove from heat, let it cool down, remove MEATER, and finish the steak by searing each side for one minute/side.

Can MEATER be used in steam cooking?

Yes. MEATER is water resistant (not waterproof) and should work as long as it is not immersed in liquids.

What happens when you lose connection to the MEATER probe?

The MEATER app will alert you if a connection drops. When you are back in range, it will automatically reconnect and update the MEATER app with the latest information.

Is there a max temperature in which you cannot use MEATER?

Internal sensor max is 212°F. Ambient sensor max is 527°F.

What version of iOS is supported by the MEATER app?

MEATER supports iOS 9.3 and higher. It is compatible with the iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch devices. The app is also available for download on Android and Amazon platforms.

What batteries do I need to charge the MEATER probe? How long is the lifecycle of the probe's battery?

MEATER uses 1x AAA battery. MEATER Block uses 4x AA batteries. The probe's battery will last 1000+ cycles/usages.

Can you select a custom target temperature?

Yes. In both the “Guided Cook” and “Custom Cook”, you can manually select a target temperature. Additionally, you can customize alerts based on the rise and/or fall of the internal and/or ambient temperatures.
