A fabric statement necklace is the best of both worlds—major visual impact, without the weight. Greek lighting designer Alexandra Tsoukala creates these necklaces with remnants from her lighting installations, using pleated strands inspired by Greek sculpture. The result is a fluid piece that catches the light and moves as you wear it—and showcases all of the shades at once.

I am not fond of wearing necklaces, but I most willingly wear this one. It is very comfortable.

What they said!

All the previous reviews that convinced me to purchase were right on. The necklace is eye-catching, lightweight and always garners compliments. I have one color and am thinking about adding another.

I find that I can only really wear it full length. Doubled up it looks a little too bulky. One thing you do have to be somewhat aware of when wearing it full length is that it can, err, drift and drape over your curves in a way you may not appreciate:)

Another nice quality is that the pleats make it really forgiving if it gets caught on a shoulder strap or lanyard. A regular necklace (especially multi-strand) would break..this happily snaps back.

unusual light-catching necklace

I like my new necklace very much. The colors go with so many things! In the summer, at times metal necklaces are not comfortable, due to heat and humidity. The lightweight aspect of the minimum design necklace is a plus. I would guess it will be popular for other seasons as well.More > < Less

I love these--get so many compliments and have ordered for friends. Lightweight and colorful. I get more compliments on this necklace (especially the silver) than some of my most expensive "real" jewerlyMore > < Less

How can a fabric necklace be so bold?

About Minimum Design

Sculptural Fabric

Normally statement necklaces are chunky and heavy. So we were delighted with the fabric statement necklace by Minimum Design. The bold, dimensional designs give off different colors depending on how they catch the light.

Crisp, tiny pleats bring each strand to life, giving it movement. The satiny fabric is dual-sided, adding layers of color and shine so that the necklace looks different depending on how you drape it—or what you’re wearing. It hangs beautifully worn long or doubled up.

Lighting designer Alexandra Tsoukala is known for creating whimsical, structural shapes out of fabric. Inspired by the ancient Kore sculptures in her native Greece, which feature pleated details, she designed these necklaces. They’re handmade with fabric remnants from her lampshades.

Alexandra thinks of her necklaces as movable sculptures, and we agree. Each is a wearable piece of art that will light up your look.
