Whimsy and Wanderlust

When Jules wore this belt to the Daily Grommet offices, it was an instant hit we wanted to share – and not just because it has grommets on it. Jules was in the eastern Tuscan town of Sansepolcro when she noticed this Napapijri belt in the window of an outdoor gear shop. She kept thinking about its textured fabric and funky detailing until she finally broke down and bought it on the last day of her Italy vacation. The Napapijri brand was created by Green Sport Monte Bianco, a small business launched in Aosta, Italy, to create outdoor clothing and accessories that are cool, comfortable, and ready for travel. Now part of a larger company, Napapijri is taking its outdoor-chic styles global and today has two U.S. stores, one in New York and one in Miami. Napapijri — which is Finnish for “Arctic Circle” — turned a wardrobe staple into a standout with this colorful belt. It’s a great gift for yourself or a friend, and it will add style to all your travels.

Travel is the guiding force of the Napapijri spirit, which is why it delights us that Daily Grommet founder, Jules, found this belt while on vacation in the Tuscan town of Sansepolcro.

It was the early nineties when the Napapijri story started in Aosta, Italy, with the objective of marrying the growing importance of technical applications with a very innovative design approach. This was the beginning of Green Sport Monte Bianco the small family owned company which launched the Napapijri brand.

We hope you like our own version of a "Grommet" belt! I look forward to reading your comments and am happy to answer questions.

OK -- I have to have this in the White. I love, love, love having unique pieces that no one else has! I don't have anything like this in my current collection of belts. Thank you, Jules, for such a wonderful find! Pieces like this help keep your wardrobe hip. . ..

One thing...this belt is hard to photograph. It is 20% more "subtle" in coloration in real life than in the photos. You can see how it looks in the video to get a sense of that.

I like the white version. Is it a true bright white for summer or more of an ivory tone? Thanks

@AnnaMaria--There is no promo code for the belt. Just proceed through check out. (BTW the suggested retail price is $75, so the price is great.)

@jgm It's an off white color, close to putty. BTW Jeanne just said that the logo is so unexpected on the design....with a funky flag design. Kind of Scandinavian. Beautiful.

@Sarah We looked pretty hard for a good online source for Napapijri in the US but came up short. We could only find pretty bland pieces on the deep discount sites. In Italy the apparel was simply fantastic: slightly edgy and very high quality outdoor inspired. Great fabrics, embroideries, fasteners, contrast trims. I really liked the sporty jackets, hoodies, and men's shirts. But I bet the selection in the NY store is fantastic...I look forward to visiting it someday.

Jules, when you say the belt fits up to a size 10-12 GAP, do you mean at the waist, just below the waist, or at the hip? I'm a size 2-4, but most of my jeans are lower cut. Maybe you could measure from the belt buckle to the first and last grommet to get a true measurement range in inches ... thanks!

@DeeDee, the actual length of the belt is 43 inches long and it is 1 1/2 inches wide. If you belt it at the very first Grommet, the circumference is 42". On the other side of the equation, for smaller sizes, it is infinitely adjustable, to Barbie waist size. I wear a size 6 Gap jean normally, low waisted, and the amount of excess belt is fine with me.

The belt is very cute, but I was very bummed to find out it is made in China, not at all in Italy or Scandinavia. Having "Made in China" all over the underside caused it too lose a lot of the unique quality for me.

@Erin: Thank you for the feedback. This is why we love our community. You truly think about your purchases and are conscious consumers. On this one the leather is Italian, the company is Italian, but they do have manufacturing done in China. We will make sure to note that in our details.
