Lights Out

Occles provide comfortable UV protection for your eyes while completely blocking out light. Whether you’re spending a day at the beach or on a long flight, these blackout sunglasses can be the perfect accessory for relaxation. Founders Hugh and Lynne got the idea for Occles while on a trip to Greece. Lying on the beach, they just couldn’t relax because of the bright sun. Sunglasses still let light through and covering their eyes with a towel was just too hot. Occles are designed with comfort in mind. Flexible and bridgeless, the contoured neckband won’t get in your way. When you’re not using them they can sit comfortably around your neck, and adjustable arms let them fit anyone’s face. Occles' soft silicone eye covers fit seamlessly over the eyes, giving them complete protection. This innovative pair of shades offers total shade. Equally useful for the traveler, shore lover, or napper in your life, Occles make it easier to relax just about anywhere.

@C great question- the answer is no as the material is uv stable.

We recommend washing the eyeseals with freshwater after beach use to ensure suntan lotion and salt are removed.

  • Hugh
    Hugh
    7/15/2015 1:27 PM

@Laura surprisingly this is not a problem. As Occles are only worn for moderate periods of time to rest and sunbathe they do not create heat around the eyes. you also have the opportunity to apply a cooling eye gel to the periorbital skin area which we know is great for moisturising that soft delicate skin. You can try this and it seals in the cooling effect which is just fabulous.

I've always had a problem with eye wear or masks pressing in around the areas around either side of my nose. Kind of like they were pressing down on my sinuses affecting my breathing. Does the Occles only rest on the orbital bones?

  • Hugh
    Hugh
    7/15/2015 3:57 PM

@Michelle thanks for the question! Yes is the short answer.

Occles bridge -less design allows the eyeseals to cover the periorbital area and the neckband design has a pretension built in which holds them in place with a side force on the side of the head.

They actually feel a bit like they are floating over the orbital bones while covering the eyes and blocking all light! (Long answer!)

    Occles are the ultimate eyeshades!
