Parisian Charm

Nearly every day at least one of us at Daily Grommet is wearing a LilyMe charm bracelet or necklace. Joanne has the bracelet with three sterling-silver disc charms with the names of her kids on them, and Jen never takes off her bracelet.

But wait, before you jump to any conclusions – these are nothing like your grandmother’s charm bracelet with the miniature replicas of knitting baskets, ice skates and rotary phones. LilyMe is all about understated charm. Instead of a heavy link bracelet, LilyMe’s jewelry is mounted on a thin satin cord (you choose the color) with unexpectedly cool slipknots. The charms themselves are simple and chic. You can personalize a disc or heart, or choose from funky butterfly, flower, clover and peace designs. The effect is a hip, casual look that still has all the personality of vintage charm jewelry but none of the clunkiness.

Grommet friend Vera Duin (on the left) introduced us to LilyMe, which traces its design roots to France. The founder of the company is Parisian-born Gaelle de Bernede, who lives in New England and regularly travels to Europe looking for the best styles to import. Gaelle scored a huge hit with these French gems, which make a great gift for teens and young adults. Moms love personalizing the charms with the name of a spouse or child, too. It’s a beautiful way to keep loved ones close, even during the busiest days.
