There’s a four-letter word that strikes fear and panic in parents, school nurses, teachers and everybody else who has ever had to deal with its aftermath: L-I-C-E. No one is immune from these creepy crawlers that all too often infiltrate classrooms and other kid havens. We’ve found a tool that can help prevent lice from spreading. Widely used in Europe and recommended by the Dutch Department of Health, the Bug Bag is an easy way to protect your family from lice.

The Bug Bag is a brightly colored nylon tent that you place over your child’s coat when it’s hanging in a closet or locker. With its hermetically sealed top, the bag provides a simple but effective way to prevent lice from crawling from one coat to another, which is the most common way head lice spreads among children. The Bug Bag was created in Amsterdam by product designer and mom Kirsti Järvinen, who knows firsthand how torturous it is to delouse a child and house. It has been used in Europe for a decade, and now the Bug Bag has arrived on our shores — just in time to fight the latest waves of pesticide-resistant super lice. We want to help spread the word about the Bug Bag because, let’s face it, the only thing we want our kids to bring home from school is homework.
