The Gripstic

It's All in the Grip

Why is it such a challenge to properly seal opened packages of food? At $4 a box, no one likes throwing out cereal that loses its crunch just days after you open it. Ditto for stale pretzels and soggy chips. We’ve tried lots of gadgets, but found most just don’t get the job done. Twist-ties are too weak, and chip clips are easily dislodged. For a firm, airtight seal that won’t come undone until you want it to, the best device we’ve tested is the Gripstic, invented by Mr. W. K. Choi.

This bag sealer is incredibly strong and it really works. When you fold the top of a plastic bag, the Gripstic slides across the entire length of the crease, creating a seal that can stand up to vigorous shaking. One tip: Make sure you pull, not push the Gripstic across the fold, says Daily Grommet’s Jen Lockwood, who tested these super sealers in her home. Food stays fresh longer, and it stays put (so no more fragments of frozen vegetables scattered at the bottom of your freezer). The Gripstic is recyclable, dishwasher safe, and made from plastic that’s BPA- and phthalate-free. They’ll save your food — and your sanity.
