Maker Story

Natural Wooden Can Coolers

What started as a laugh turned into a full time endeavor. While sitting on a log, drinking a chilled beverage a friend and I laughed about how funny a hand turned beverage coozie would be. Well, being a woodworker with the skills and tools, I decided to see how possible that would be. After a number of designs, and iterations, the Woodzie was born. I brought the first prototype to a party, and by the end of the day, I had a couple orders. 6 months later it was the main thing being produced in my shop. I have made Woodzies for friends, old and new. Weddings, some of my favorite bands. Fathers, mothers, sisters, and brothers. It has given me a way to connect with people and also makes me feel good that I am creating something sustainable that was traditionally made using petrochemicals. I really fell in love with the idea because every woodzie may be one less foam coozie in the world, and that is what really makes it worth it for me.
