Community Servings makes all of their meals from scratch using local produce and herbs, tailoring each meal to a specific patient’s needs so that it provides important nutrients recommended by his or her doctor. For a family facing a terminal or serious health crisis, these meals offer a sense of comfort and care from the community.
Another way this charity is innovative is in who helps serve the meals. Community Servings offers job training to folks transitioning from prison or rehab. While learning kitchen skills and resume building, they’re also gaining a purpose that will help sustain them as they shift back into society.
CEO David Waters brought his 30+ years of food service experience to the organization. This year, Community Servings will provide more than 675,000 meals to 2,000 patients and their families.
