When we talk about cars and easing up on the environment, the focus is usually on fuel efficiency. But there are other ways to make a positive impact, starting with your garden hose. Instead of washing your car and sending 100 gallons of water, dirt, chemicals, and salt into the sewer system, why not go waterless?

When we talk about cars and easing up on the environment, the focus is usually on fuel efficiency. But there are other ways to make a positive impact, starting with your garden hose. Instead of washing your car and sending 100 gallons of water, dirt, chemicals, and salt into the sewer system, why not go waterless?

James Dudra and Anne Ruozzi, two environmental entrepreneurs from Portsmouth, NH, are the creators of Eco Touch, car wash and car detailing products that don’t require any water. The ingredients are nontoxic, biodegradable and phosphate-free. All you have to do is spray your car, wipe with one microfiber towel to pull the dirt off your car, and then use the second towel to give it a shine. (The towels are included in the kits.) Eco Touch’s plant-based surfactants break down surface grime while polymers leave your car’s finish gleaming and protected.

During an internship in Sydney, Australia (where rain can be scarce), James learned about waterless car cleaners and returned home determined to explore green methods of cleaning cars, boats, and RVs. The products he and Anne developed are used by professional detailers, so you can trust that they’ll do the job on your favorite four-wheelers, without harming you or the environment.
