Maker Story

Wood Lace

Jessica Coleman is a landscape architect by day and jewelry maker by night, and it’s easy to see how her day job influences her craft. She makes striking laser-cut jewelry that highlights natural, organic forms and crisp geometric shapes.

Jessica’s preferred medium is bamboo, since it’s a sustainably harvested wood that’s lightweight yet also strong enough to withstand the laser cutting and etching process. She refines her intricate designs on a computer, using architectural drafting and illustration software, then uses a laser cutter to bring her creations to life. The burnished edges of the wood cutouts add shadowy depth to Jessica’s lace-like silhouettes.

Blossoming flowers, abstract leaves, and cascading drops of water are just a few of her inspirations. We can’t get enough of them.
