Jianhui London

Maker - Jianhui Yan

Jianhui London
Underrepresented Entrepreneur

Maker Story

Beaded Versatility

The latest creation from designer Jianhui (pronounced “Janway”) Yan is a showstopper of a necklace. How you wear it is entirely up to you. When it’s warm you can wear the beads long and loose, like a conventional necklace, and when it’s cold you can twist and shape them into a thick, scarf-like choker.

Each set includes 10 strands of beads. The beads are saturated with rich colors, and the texture is irresistible. There’s something satisfyingly therapeutic about running your fingers through the strands of lightweight beads, which are made from salvaged wood scraps and colored with natural dyes.

Jianhui launched his career in jewelry design as a young man, when he went to London and saw women wearing colorful jewelry that reminded him of mountain flowers from his childhood in rural China. He began making jewelry for his mother, and later for family and friends, and his talents took over. With its saturated colors, tactile beads, and dramatic possibilities, Jianhui’s “Next Pashmina – Wood” collection will bring out your creative side.
