Maker Story

Fast Fires

Looftlighter Maker (and namesake) Richard Looft ended up ordering a pizza after grilling—and then tossing out—a chicken. Why? It tasted like lighter fluid. Richard knew there had to be a more effective way to light charcoal. After experimenting by putting charcoal in the toaster and using an old vacuum cleaner to create airflow, he realized he had figured out a better alternative.

The electric Looftlighter can produce a super-heated air flow—like, around 1100 degrees Fahrenheit—within seconds, making it a super-fast way to light charcoal and wood. Its safety casing cools within seconds and there’s no gas, flame, or best of all, lighter fluid needed.
