Manasi’s newborn son was most content when she held him while he slept. Traditional swaddling alone wasn’t enough to calm him, and she realized a parent’s touch made the difference. Manasi started pouring through medical research and learned that a parent’s caress has been shown to stabilize a baby's heart rate, regulate blood pressure, and lower stress levels. Hospitals use lightly weighted accessories that simulate touch to soothe pre-term babies, she discovered.
Armed with this knowledge, Manasi started designing. Her Zen Swaddle blanket has small weights sewn into strategic places -- on the abdomen to mimic the feeling of a parent’s hand on a baby’s chest, and along both sides of a baby’s torso/thigh area to simulate the sensation of being held. It’s made from 100% cotton fabric, and the weighted poly-beads are free of any harmful chemicals. Velcro closures make it easy for new parents to work with, and the Zen Swaddle can be used with a baby’s arms tucked inside or outside the wrap.
The Zen Swaddle is designed to make babies feel safe, comfortable, and ready to rest—a priceless gift for sleep-deprived parents.
