Let’s Roll

Sushi is a great way to bring bold flavors and textures to the table, but many of us are intimidated by the thought of serving it at dinner parties or holiday get-togethers. Brice Leconte, founder of SushiQuik, wants to erase the fear.

Let’s Roll

Sushi is a great way to bring bold flavors and textures to the table, but many of us are intimidated by the thought of serving it at dinner parties or holiday get-togethers. Brice Leconte, founder of SushiQuik, wants to erase the fear.

Brice, who used to own a fitness center, is passionate about healthy living. He’s a big fan of sushi for its nutritional benefits, and he set out to make sushi-making more accessible to home cooks. His solution, dubbed the Sushi Roller Kit, provides the tools you need to make your own sushi rolls at home. The kit includes a training frame, which stabilizes a nori sheet and defines the area where rice should be spread; a non-stick paddle for distributing the rice; a roller mat with detachable end caps that double as soy sauce holders; and a roll cutter, which has evenly spaced slots to guide your knife (and spare your fingers) when you’re slicing sushi pieces.

Sushi is appealing for so many reasons. It tastes great, uses healthy ingredients, and the presentation can be stunning. With the right tools, it’s easy to try at home. Once you start experimenting with different ingredients -- such as steak, lentils, or even sweets for dessert -- you’ll forget you were ever afraid to try.
