Tokyo PowerShovel

Maker - Aaron Gerry

Tokyo PowerShovel

Maker Story

From every angle

For everyone from the photography purist to the digital junkie, Tokyo PowerShovel has developed two decidedly different ways to capture a moment.

A throwback to the past, The Last Camera is a 35mm toy camera that actually works. Of course, you have to build it before you can use it. Fascinating and fun for DIY types interested in understanding the inner workings of an analog camera.

On the other end of the spectrum, The SUN&CLOUD is a digital camera powered by the sun. Whether you’re enjoying the great outdoors or traveling the world, there’s no need to find a plug to charge this camera—just look to the sky. If the battery is running low and the sun isn’t in view, simply turn the camera’s crank to give it a quick mini charge so you never miss another picture perfect moment. The Sun&Cloud features 15 pre-set color modes and even captures video.

Company founder, Hideki Ohmori, thinks that photography, like beauty, is in the eye of the beholder. In his own words, “cameras are just boxes after all…but in front and behind them are…people.” Ohmori believes in exploring every angle of a situation and these two cameras do just that.
