Vyshyvanka

Maker - Kyrylo Vyshyvanka Ukrainian Gifts

Maker Story

Embellished Eggs

These stunning Ukrainian Pysanky eggs bring a bit of spring into your home. Traditional Pysanky is an age-old art form that involves intricate layers of wax and stains, applied by hand to beautiful effect. The base of these painted eggs is wood, not a real egg shell, so you can display them for many seasons to come.

Ukrainian artists work with Kyrylo, the founder of Vyshyvanka Ukrainian Gifts, to create these pysanky eggs. Each one is made from spruce wood, painted by hand, and then sealed with polyurethane for durability. Creating a Pysanky egg is a painstakingly detailed process. Kyrylo’s passion is helping to keep alive this challenging, yet culturally rich, folk art so we all get to enjoy the beauty of this craft (and reputed good luck).
