Yellow Leaf's Chief Relaxation Officer, Joe Demin, has an enviable title, but it doesn’t really tell the whole story. Sure, he knows all about proper "hammocking,” as Yellow Leaf calls it. But Joe is about so much more than just leaning back and going with the flow.
Yellow Leaf was named after the Mlabri tribe in Thailand. Often referred to as "people of the yellow leaves," the society was placed on UNESCO's Endangered Languages List as modern life and deforestation has taken its toll. Joe knew as soon as he tried out the Mlabri’s hand-woven hammocks that he wanted to bring them to the rest of the world, but the more he learned, the more committed he became to not just the hammocks, but also the Mlabri people. He came up with Yellow Leaf’s four-pillar sustainability plan, which ensures that we get amazing hammocks, while the Mlabri get economic health, cultural vitality, and a social equality previously unavailable to them.
In addition to supporting a struggling tribe, the hammocks offer the ultimate relaxation. Each is handwoven from triple-weave microyarns that yield a soft, cocoon-like product. You can choose from queen or king traditional hammocks, or opt for the "sitting hammock," which is more like a recliner. Each is a statement piece, and relaxation with a conscience.
