Art History

We’ve all heard the saying a picture speaks a thousand words. The same can be said for infographics—a visually compelling way to convey information through the use of yes, you guessed it, graphics. In 2010, book editor Patrick Mulligan and graphic designer Ben Gibson, set out to chart a new path, one that is both artful and informative. In their own words, the goal of Pop Chart Labs is to “render all of human experience in chart form.” Using infographics, Patrick and Ben document the evolution of everything from culinary tools to varieties of beer to dog breeds. What sets Pop Chart Labs infographics posters apart is their design. Part wall art, part history lesson, each print is as aesthetically appealing as it is educational. Made in Brooklyn, NY, using 100 lb. archival recycled stock certified by The Forest Stewardship Council, the posters are pressed on an offset lithographic press with vegetable-based inks. The intricately detailed illustrations bring new meaning to the words art history. Each print comes packaged in Pop Chart Lab Test Tube making it a great gift for all breeds of folks and just about any occasion.

Love the concept, and as an advertising & graphic design instructor, have been working with my students on learning to present their research results more visually. Thinking of all kinds of people on my lists who would find these fascinating, and they would be perfect in a lot of office settings as well!
