After shoveling snow from a brutal upstate NY storm left his back feeling the pain, Peter Ziamandanis headed inside and got straight to work building a shovel that would eliminate the need for bending—NoBendz. The first prototype made of PVC pipe and plumbing joints let Peter stand totally upright while shoveling. Not only did this help get rid of his back pain, it cut his shoveling time in half because he didn’t have to stop to rest and stretch his back. The secret is the second handle that adds the leverage needed to lift and throw snow with less effort. With the success of this snow shovel, Peter is hard at work designing other tools that can help cut down on even more bendy jobs around the house.
