Makes me feel like I am in Maine again!

7/20/2019 by Kimberly

My husband and I traveled to Maine this summer and even though we DID purchase 1 North Country Wind Bell, wish I had purchased another for a friend. Voila! And I must admit, actually went to the maker's website to purchase directly from them, but they charged shipping! I got exactly what I was looking for from The Grommet and will make it part of my future on-line shopping experience.More > < Less

Landlocked

I purchased the Fir Tree North Country Wind Bell through Grommet. Let’s face it everyone who lives in-land wishes they lived by the shore. This buoy bell let’s me dream I’m there.
I was pleasantly surprised at how quickly my order arrived. Packaged quite nicely. The fir tree bell is larger than I expected. And of a solid, though not heavy, weight. I can’t wait to see it covered with just a hint of snow this winter. Oh, what am I thinking! Yes, I can wait. In the mean time I’m planning on ordering Boston Harbor bell, too. They would make awesome Christmas gifts!!’

About North Country Wind Bells

Sound Of The Sea

Jim Davidson was a lobsterman in Maine for years. Buoy bells chiming as he hauled in his lobster traps was a favorite sound—equal parts peaceful and melodic, and an indicator that he was safely close to harbor.

Jim was so enamored with the sound that he and his wife, May, began creating their own wind chimes to capture it. Their North Country Wind Bells are made at home in Maine and capture the tones of over 20 coastal and harbor bells.

Each location has a distinctive sound—from Bar Harbor to San Francisco—that Jim and May have carefully recreated. They started by recording as many local bells as they could. They then fine-tuned their own bells by ear until the sound was just right.

The bells and windcatchers are crafted from recycled steel by many of the locals in the Davidsons' small town, and should last for at least 20 years of coastal-inspired sound.
