Necessity is the Mother of Invention, and the StoveShelf story is no different. Years ago, Scott Fleming was living in a small Milwaukee apartment with very limited kitchen counter space. With a large spice rack occupying most of the counter top next to the stove, he was desperate to gain more storage space, but how? As a tenant, he couldn’t mount a shelf to the backsplash–and even if he had owned the home, drilling into tile didn’t sound like a great idea. After a couple beers, he quickly realized the entire top of the stove itself was wasted space. But how would he affix a shelf to a stove that didn’t belong to him? Not long after enjoying his enlarged kitchen storage space, he thought others might benefit from having a magnetic StoveShelf as well, and the rest is history.
