The problem that I have with tape cutters is that it's hard to find the end of the tape next time I use it. For some reason, I thought that the tadpole would solve that problem. It didn't.

This is especially handy when you need to mask off areas for painting. Sure you can just tear the tape, but this does a nicer job. Inexpensive too.
Great concept, needs some work

I bought this product to replace those big tape roll dispenser units we currently use in the our shipping department. It is definitely an excellent idea, small, space saving device, and I give you one star for that. But you need to go back to the drawing board for the other features that are needed. Once you get the device on the roll of tape, which is a task in itself when you figure out how. I followed the instructions on the package and I still don't believe it was on correctly. When you're dispensing the tape you have to make sure not to put too much pressure on the unit or else it cuts the tape before you want it to. Then when you tear off the tape it does not hold on to the end so what good is that?! Frustrating as hell and very disappointing. I would not recommend this product until its been improved. I do recommend to continue just folding over the end of the tape and use the scissors or utility knife you probably have in your junk drawer or tool box for now.
Clever solution

This is such a great idea! I only gave it 4stars because after I cut the tape it tends to fall out of the edge holders and stick itself to the roll- very frustrating. I may be doing something wrong but I did read the instructions

The struggle to find the tape end is over. No scissors needed. This little tool solves most of the tape problems for me. I have Tadpole Tape Cutters on all the rolls of tape in my house.

This tape cutter belongs in every toolbox or junk drawer. It takes the frustration out of paint jobs, moving, or any project that requires tape. Tadpole fits snugly on the tape roll, neatly slicing off pieces of tape evenly—and easily. Choose the right size depending on the tape you’re using. And when you’re done move tadpole to a new roll.

Ever struggled to find the end of a tape roll, or to cut off pieces? The Tadpole tape cutter will put an end to that.

This time (and sanity) saver gives you a clean, straight piece of tape every time. Its bungee-like cord attaches the blade to a roll, staying flush against the tape—like a less-bulky tape gun that’s even easier to use.

Lee Mallahan III created Tadpole after fighting to get straight pieces of painters tape for numerous glass door panes. Besides giving tape users everywhere a much-needed break, Tadpole gives back, too. It’s Made in the USA by partners from The Louisiana Association for the Blind.

Tadpole is low profile enough to keep on any roll in your toolbox or kitchen drawer—electrical, duct, masking, painters. And when one roll is finished, Tadpole goes right onto the next. Now you can stop using scissors, a box cutter, a knife—or worse, your teeth—to get a piece of tape.
