Handmade Ceramic Grating Plate: A Winner!
11/01/2019 by Mimi
I really love the ceramic grating plate for garlic and ginger. It grates very fine. There is a brush that comes with the plate; to pull the garlic and ginger off the plate into your dish. It also comes with a plastic sleeve that pulls the garlic skins off the garlic, quite clever!

I like this grater-plate. It thought it would be a bit larger.
Not my Go-To

Wasn’t real impressed with it for cheese, but garlic and nutmeg come out ok.

The easiest grater I've ever used.
Does Not Work

Supposedly does citrus zest according to the summary I read in The Grommet. This is why I purchased this item. Could not zest a lime at all. May work for other items, but not lime zest.

Grates and zests in a perfectly presentable way Works with garlic, ginger, and hard cheese
Garlic, ginger, nutmeg, hard cheeses—this ceramic grater tackles them all and does the grating (and even zesting) job beautifully. Handcrafted in Portland, Oregon, the plate comes in bright colors with a polished finish that won’t wear down over time. Use it for prep work or to whip up and serve a quick garlic dipping oil for bread.

The Grate Plate

Deborah and Hillary Murphy spent a year fine-tuning their ceramic graters before bringing them to local farmers markets to see how folks would respond. Their beautifully handcrafted dishes were such a hit that The Grate Plate has grown and found fans beyond the Murphys' home base of Portland, Oregon.

Portland is where the mother-daughter team makes each brightly hued ceramic plate dotted with unique graters that won’t wear down over time and are gentler than metal. (Your fingertips will thank you.) Made with garlic in mind, The Grate Plate does the grating job for hard cheeses, ginger, nutmeg, peppers, and it can even zest citrus. We like the idea of using one to prep and serve a quick garlic dipping oil for bread.

The presentation-worthy plate combines functionality and a polished finish, which also makes it a perfect gift for hosts, home cooks, or anyone who appreciates beautifully made and useful things. more Their Story
