Pneumatic Engine details
Mimics the working of a steam engine to perfection. Its mechanism generates real pressure coupled with the noise that pneumatics are well known for. Small but fully functional example of a steam engine, except that it uses air pressure instead of steam to set it in motion. Number of parts: 82
Tractor details
Mechanical model works with the aid of a rubber band that activates an all-wheel drive motor which allows it to move on a flat surface showing clearly the workings of the gears, pistons, and levers. It has a transmission switch that provides three options: “park”, “drive”, and “sport". The “drive” mode will get it going slowly, covering about 5 cm per second. Switch the model to “sport” to see your tractor speeding up in its graceful splendor. Number of parts: 97
Treasure Box details
A unique teaser puzzle that has been dynamically engineered to be self-assembled. Contains a compartment that can be opened and closed with an exquisitely carved key that sets the gears in motion when turned clockwise. The box compartments can be used to store your treasures like jewelry and memorabilia. Number of parts: 190
Town Tram Line details
The Tram Line model consists of 14 smaller models, which come in a convenient scale for building and playing with. The Tram Line model doesn’t need glue or special tools or even toothpicks to connect parts, which makes putting it together even more exciting. Wind-up of the tram car and watch it move on the rails, entering into the Depot. After turning on 180 degree on the turntable, it moves on its own to the end of the line. There are no batteries inside: just gears, wheels, cranks, and rubber band engine! The stairs at the tram stop are removable and can be placed in any part of platform. The tram depot is equipped with a turntable for turning the tram on 180 degree for the next trip. The model even has a footbridge for pedestrian crossing. Number of parts: 284
Flight Starter details
The mechanical launcher, which works best with light airplane models, features a unique design that was created using high-quality, sustainable plywood. Ergonomics ensure the launcher fits comfortably in your hand and makes it easy for you to launch with complete precision. A motor powered by a rubber band creates the tension that thrusts the plane into the air, and a winding crank allows you to choose how far your plane will fly. Depending on your preferences, planes launched with this flight kit can go as far as 30 meters or even further. Change the angle of the launch to create loops, rolls, and more entertaining maneuvers. A safety mechanism on the trigger ensures you never launch until you're ready. The Flight Starter kit includes everything you need to create your launcher, as well as one plywood glider plane and two paper airplanes. You can also build your own lightweight airplanes to use with the launcher, which works best with planes made of paper, cardboard, balsa wood, and other light materials. Number of parts: 198

This was a gift for a young relative. His mother said he spent a lot of time putting it together. They sent me a photo of him proudly holding the finished product.

My grandson loved this. He is 14 and loves to build things. It kept him busy and when he finished he made a point of showing us his finished tractor.
I discovered UGEARS in Switzerland and now Grommet has it!

U-GEARS are a fantastic way to teach basic mechanics to anyone, adult or child! I should know - I work at an Ace Hardware store. I discovered my first UGEAR last year - 2018- while vacationing at a Christmas Markets tour in Basel, Switzerland. They had run out of tractors so I got the business card holder and couldn't wait to get home to assemble it! At work, I showed it to everyone - it was is a hit - and I commented how I hoped to see this imported into the US some day. And now, a few months later, I see that Grommet has the most popular styles!!! I'm so excited!!! (One suggestion for the UGear folks - you should re-visit how the tool you use to push toothpicks into place... it is a bit unsafe and can easily slip. I used pliers instead...)

UGEARS beginner model kits make building a fun and engaging hands-on experience. These kits are geared toward older kids ready to try something a little more involved. Each model is pieced together from flat, unfinished, laser-cut plywood parts that don’t need tools or glue to be assembled. The finished product has parts that move, too, to put these models in motion.

UGEARS founders Denys and Gennady share a fascination with the inner workings of machines and both are enamored with gears and levers. They realized we rarely get to see these parts in action anymore. To remedy that, they created model kits with movable parts that are engaging from start to finish.

The duo and their Kiev, Ukraine-based team want to encourage folks to be more hands-on, so they strive to make the model-building process as fun as playing with the finished product.

What begins as flat pieces of laser-cut plywood transforms into a model motorcycle, train, treasure box and more designs that all have parts that move in some way—like pistons, wheels, and, yes, gears. There are no tools or glue needed here and there are models suited to different ability levels. You can paint or finish your model once it's built.

Denys made models as a child and wanted to recapture the joy of creating with your hands—which he thought, much like with gears, was something many of us have fallen out of touch with. And we can attest, it’s hard to keep your hands off a UGEARS model. more Their Story
