Grommet Launch Conversation

Hello Everyone. I am Andrew Laird, Founder of ProShot case and I am very excited to introduce ProShot to the Grommet. This is a project I have been working on for the past two years have created a product to perfect for anyone who enjoys traveling, photography, and extreme sports! I am happy to answer any questions you may have!

I was just curious does it have the ability to snap a picture while the video is recording. I love to use that feature but since it relies on the touch screen to snap the pic it also doesn't work under water. I was curious if you were able to incorporate that feature somehow in the buttons also. If not that would be great addition! Thanks
-
@Renee You are right that touch screens do not work underwater so you will not be able to snap a picture while recording a video if you are underwater.
Because touch screens do not work underwater we created the ProShotCase app which allows you to get almost full camera functionality with just the volume buttons on the phone. The volume (-) button scrolls through your camera mode and volume (+) takes photos or starts and stops videos. You can download the app for free and test it out! -
When I've used waterproof cases before, the phone overheating has been a problem.
On a trip to Miami where I used it for underwater photography as well as just protection, my iphone got so hot that it would shut down after only about 10 minutes. How does your case dissipate heat buildup? -
@Robin I have only had this problem when I leave the case out in direct sunlight for long periods of time. Now I always cover the case with a shirt or towel when I am not using it and have not had any overheating problems since.
-
Do you use this case all the time, or just use it when your main activity is taking pictures/videos?
-
@Saybra Great question! The ProShot was not designed as an everyday case. We created it so you could capture moments when you are underwater or need above average protection for your phone. ProShot is also compatible with all GoPro mounts which makes it great for taking pictures and videos during any extreme sport!
-
I presume that this can be used only on certain models of cellular phones. On what models can this be used?
-
@Jon We have cases available for the iPhone 6/6s, iPhone 7, iPhone 6/6s Plus, and iPhone 7 Plus!
-
@Andrew
Any plans to develop one for the Samsung Phones? -
@Sally We do not have any immediate plans for the samsung phones but are going to look into production later this year!
-
When using the case for water protection...as in a canoe or boat...can the phone be used without having to remove the iPhone from the case? Can you hear it ring or the caller speaking while it's in your case?
-
@Bill With the touchscreen lid you can hear the phone ring and use the phone as normal. The volume is muffled slightly but it is definitely still usable for phone calls.
