Stitching failed after 1 year

by

Would have been a 5-star review, but this week the stitching failed where the straps (grab strap and right shoulder strap) connect at the top of the pack. Of course this is the strap I I grab to sling it over my shoulder.

I have had it for a year but carried it daily only starting in July, when my previous pack and laptop were stolen from my car. Since then it's been a daily carry from car to work, from car to house, and from car to errands-after-work since I don't leave it in my car any more.

I managed to hand-stitch the 2" rip with extra-strength thread, a carpet needle, pliers and a lot of pulling. It had to go through 2 layers of strap, the billboard fabric and the black vented fabric. Not easy - took about 2 hours to get it done.

Sorry, RAREFORM, but a pack needs to have really strong seaming at the stress points, and this shows no sign of that. In all other ways, it's a great pack. I hope the repair will hold so I can use it for years, which would be my expectation.

About RAREFORM

It’s a Sign

RAREFORM transforms freeway billboards into bold, upcycled bags.

They’re “rare,” not only in their eco-friendly construction, but also because each bag is completely unique. Brothers Alec and Aric Avedissian wash, hand-cut, sew, and ship the vinyl to L.A., where it’s arranged into one-of-a-kind designs.

In the same way billboards are built to last—rain or shine—RAREFORM bags stand up to the elements. They’re super lightweight and durable and the designs show close attention to detail—padded compartments protect your laptop and wide openings make for easy packing.

Get all the attention of a billboard in a distinct, sophisticated, and sustainable design.
