Poor quality control

At first use one of the rivet heads came off. I repaired. It renews a razor but not as wall as a white ceramic stone.

Five stars for this product

The Razor Renew leather strop is better than advertised. It works! I've tried it on all my straight razors, my knives and my shaving razors. Get it. You won't be disappointed.

Works OK

I have used it a couple of times so far it works OK.

Still not sure?

So far the results are less than stellar. I use a Gillette Proglide razor. The Razor Renew does a good job of cleaning the blades but I have not noticed the blades being sharper? I used it on a blade a few weeks old and on a blade less than a week old. It cleaned them both well. The old blade was only marginally sharper. The new blade was no sharper and may have actually dulled a little. Since then I have used the Razor Renew before each shave to see if it gets better over time. Right now, regretfully, I am not impressed.

not convinced

So far I have not seen much improvement in blade sharpness. I have the short version..... 4 swipes up and 4 down and reverse side w/ 8 swipes up and 8 down, but blade seems to dull as usual.

Razor Renew - Sharpening Tool

About Razor Renew

Look Sharp

John Mecham was tired of spending money on pricey disposable razors. In his quest for a better option, he invented Razor Renew, a leather tool that manually sharpens and polishes not just razor blades but also knives, scissors and other cutting instruments.

John’s tool is similar to the leather strops that old-school barbers use to sharpen straight edge razors. In the same way, Razor Renew can smooth the burrs and scratches on a disposable razor, bringing it back to like-new sharpness. What’s different is the material. John found that cowhide, which is great for straight edges, is too harsh
for thin razor blades. He experimented with different leathers and different designs before settling on a two-sided combination: a suede side to sharpen and hone the metal, and a smooth leather side to smooth and polish. The short version is for blades less than 3 inches long, and the long version works with larger knives, scissors and other blades.

If you’re looking to get more use out of disposable razors, or you want a DIY tool to maintain your knives and scissors, Razor Renew is a handy solution. It’s made in the U.S., and it’s designed to last a lifetime if you care for it properly. John wouldn’t have it any other way.
