The idea to create a glasses holder came to Rick Hopper when he needed to wear his glasses more often—and he ended up dropping them more often, too. ReadeREST is Rick’s low-profile (but so smart) solution, and it’s Made in the USA. A super strong magnet works through fabric to hold a steel clip on the outside of shirts, jackets, and other clothing. Unlike other holders you wear around the neck and leave your glasses dangling, these help your glasses stay put when you lean over or are moving around. And if you’re already wearing your glasses, ReadeREST can hold earbuds or ID badges in place, too.

    I have a pacemaker as well and have worn magnet name tags many times with no ill effect. That said, I guess it depends upon the power of the magnet.

    @Kate Hello Kate. I have tried one of these in the past and I liked it a lot until one day I forgot about it and hugged to my wife. She also has a pacemaker defibrillator and when I hugged her the magnets turned her pacemaker off briefly. It made all kinds of beeping noises that I had no idea it could even make, she was OK but I think it gave me a heart attack.

    @Kate,

    Great question.

    We have the warnings on our packaging because magnets can negatively effect the performance of pacemakers/defibrillators.

    However, my Aunt asked her cardiologist and a rep from the company that manufactured her pacemaker and they said to keep the magnets at least 2 inches away from her implanted device.

    She wears a Readerest opposite her pacemaker every day.

    Thanks for asking.

    I've been using these for years, ever since I saw the product on Shark Tank. LOVE them. But, I get mine at Walmart for a bit less than $8.00 and no shipping. They don't have a large selection - chrome and black options - but I have quite a few of the specs holders. Thanks for the great idea.

    Hi Jo Angela,

    You're lucky to live by a Walmart that carries Readerest, not all stores have them available. For everyone else that doesn't want to walk through the parking lot and look for a needle in a hay-stack, the Grommet has made it super easy for you.

    Thanks for sharing your experience here and we are sure glad you love wearing your Readerest.

    Hi Pat,

    Thanks for your input.

    We have a utility patent in the US for this product and we take our intellectual properties very seriously.

    There have been some Chinese knock offs for sale on EBAY and AMAZON that have mostly been removed. We continue to police and respond.

    As with any new popular product, the copy cats love to jump in to make a few bucks.

    I would certainly caution anyone that gets tempted to purchase the cheap knock offs to read the reviews and beware.

    If I could tell everyone in the world how much time the would save by not running around searching for their glasses all the time, or worse yet, the time and money spent replacing them because the fell and got scratched or broken......can you imagine if everyone had a Readerest?
