Rock Cotton

Versatile Tunic

Versatile By Design

If the thought of a one-size-fits-most dress conjures up images of a dated housedress, be prepared for a stylish surprise. The Rock Cotton tunic is fresh, fitted and pure fun. You can wear it as a long dress, short dress, or top. You can dress it up or dress it down. The cut is generous but fitted in the right places, so it works for many different body types.

The versatile piece is the handiwork of Tina and Taylor McMillen, a
mother-daughter design duo whose modern, comfy clothes appeal to multiple generations. Rock Cotton is made in the U.S. with 95% Supima cotton (that’s Pima cotton from American cotton growers) and 5% Spandex. It hangs beautifully, plus care is simple: machine wash, tumble dry. For travel lovers, Rock Cotton is a must-pack since you can wear it so many different ways. You can pair it with flip-flops for a beach look, wear it with boots for a trek around town, or take it into the night with a pair of heeled sandals.

Each Rock Cotton garment is individually hand-dyed and comes with a one-of-a-kind tumbled stone. Taylor, who collects rocks, was inspired by the natural beauty of stone. Her inspiration translates into an eye-catching garment that’s flexible in fit and function. It won’t take long to become a go-to favorite.

Hello Everyone! It is great fun to be today's Grommet. My name is Tina McMillen and together, with my daughter, Taylor McMillen, we have created a product that both a mother and daughter can look fabulous in. Rock Cotton is a unique new brand that is completely produced in California. Taylor and I have developed a versatile tunic that may be worn 3 different ways. Each garment is hand-dyed and softened with our eco-friendly softeners. Our fabric is a custom blend with ultra soft, high quality supima cotton. Each piece is hand-dyed and inspired from the colors in the stone. Taylor has always been a rock collector and we found it very fun that there were so many stories behind every type of rock. All Rock Cotton Tunics come with a matching rock necklace that is attached to a removable hang tag. The rocks are all hand cut and tumbled to reveal their beauty. We think they are wonderful, comfy and a great value. We hope you think so too!

Wow! My daughter and I would LOVE this, but at this price point?!? There is no way. It's too bad.

Do all the shirts have horizontal stripes or do some have more of a dye-tie look? They sound awesome! I love the fact that they are made in the USA! looking forward to hearing from you.

    Hello CC,

Yes, all garments available today have the horizon wash, which is layers of color horizontally or similar to horizontal. All garments are one of a kind, but similar in pattern layout. If you will notice, the bottom of the shirt gets darker and the way the color falls is very flattering on. Thank you for your comment. It's great to hear from you. Tina

I agree with Kris, this is too much to spend on something I haven't seen in person. If I knew it would not shrink (I'm big in the chest), I might try it, but the one-size-fits-most idea is not confidence-inspiring when the description on the video says "size zero thru ten/twelve." That's a potential fifty pound difference, ladies. I LOVE the look of this piece, but wouldn't pay more than $50.00 for something online, sight unseen.

The price is pretty prohibitive. I could see $80 but no more. Too bad, because I love it.

I hate to agree, but I think the price is prohibitive. Otherwise, I would definitely order this adorable tunic. Also, love the idea of a tie-dye effect.

    Hello Ladies,

Thank you for your comments. Having seen these pieces first-hand, there are a number of reasons why these tunics are worthy of their price point. First of all, these pieces are made from end to end in the USA. Secondly, each piece is individually made and dyed. They are basically made to order. The quality of the sewing is far superior than pieces that are mass-produced.

As for sizing considerations, we've had people on our staff who are a size 14 and/or wear EE bra size who found the cut generous and comfortable. The bat wing cut ensures that people of a variety of sizes can wear it.

All of Tina's pieces are made to wash and wear without any shrinking. I've washed mine and it still fits the same.

    Hope that helps!

I really like the idea and appreciate the comment that people of multiple sizes look good in the tunic. It would be very helpful if it were modeled by people of different sizes and shapes, so we can estimate how it would look on us. The tunics look great on the model, but I think anything would look good on her. It would be nice to see the tunic on a "real" person.

    Hi Brenda,

We hear you. Thanks for your valuable input here. We should be showing varying size models and will take this feedback seriously. To echo Thara's comments above, we did have testers in the office of varying sizes and everyone found it to be a comfortable fit, especially since it's a bat wing cut piece. Thanks again.

It is rather arrogant, and indicative of the root of the body image issue of so many girls and women in our society, that you consider 0-12, even 14, one size fits most. And if each piece is "basically made to order" as stated above, then why can't other sizes be ordered?

@ SC - The Rock Cotton Tunic is quite generous and unstructured all the way to the thighs. Below the bottom it stretches in a flattering way to give it shape and allow it to be worn as a dress. It probably wouldn't work well for plus sizes but it could work well for larger size women. Sorry that our sizing language struck you as arrogant, that was never our intent.

This is a great idea, and is a very beautiful piece of clothing...but the price point is a bit high for most I believe. I would love to get one...but just a bit expensive for my budget.

I love it and would love to wear it. I would however, wait out for a sale price. But again, I love it.

Will the tunic fit a size 16? If it doesn't fit, what is your return policy? I am a 65 year old, but trendy, grandma.

    @ Donna

    Hi Donna,

This is great for a trendy grandma like yourself! Several people have asked about sizing. We say that one size fits most between 0-12, yet since we've seen it fit many sizes comfortably, we'd encourage you to try it out.

We have an easy return policy which you can read all about here

I am wondering if the opinions and comments about this product will affect the price at some point down the line.

If not,Perhaps this is not the right venue to show what most women think is an "expensive" one size fits all top.

I read comments a lot and rarely see this many remarks about the purchase price. For what it is worth, I shop online a lot and $120.00 is high for a tunic top.

The mod cloth sight shows women of various sizes in garments so the viewer can see how the clothes look on "real" people.

@MB - Yes, we're listening! The Rock Cotton tunic is manufactured right here in California. The material is a buttery, luxury cotton called Supima. Supima is often regarded as the worlds finest cotton.

Of course this garment could be could be manufactured in a less expensive facility, in a developing country and with less costly materials. But then it wouldn't be the same. We're supportive of Rock Cotton but we don't remove opinions that differ from ours.

    Hello Ladies,

I would love to share some things with you.

I have been in the retail and wholesale side of this business for 25 years and although my partner and daughter is a newbie, I am a seasoned veteran. I have been dressing women, REAL women, of all shapes and sizes for a very long time and this product fits and looks good on 95% of the women that I have tried it on.

I am also a very picky shopper and I only purchase products that are very very special. I work hard for my money and I will only spend it if I love it. Comfort is huge for me and actually the first test while shopping, is the "feel" test. If the Garment gets that far, it has to fit well.

Being a 55 year old woman and a designer, imagine how high that bar is? I will commit to you that you will be stunned by its softness and amazed at how many ways it can be worn and look GOOD on you. This is not just a T Shirt but a hand made versatile fashion piece that will be a fabulous addition to your wardrobe.

If feel, quality and style are key factors in what you purchase, and you appreciate the uniqueness of this garment, it's well worth your investment and you will not be disappointed. Seeing is believing and with Daily Grommet's easy exchange policy you can see for yourself.

And PS, you will LOVE the matching necklace!
