Travel Cornhole

Turtle Toss is a bean bag toss game, similar to cornhole. But a lot easier to carry. Its foldable polyester board packs and travels easily, almost like a beach chair. Founders Jeanne and Allen Bell got into game design to pry their two boys away from video games. Watching a cornhole contest while tailgating, Allen noticed how heavy the board was to transport. By contrast, he saw dozens of people carrying portable chairs over their shoulders. That was his a-ha moment. Lightweight and durable, Turtle Toss comes in an easy-to-carry shoulder bag. There’s no assembly required—just unfold the game and play. When you’re done, fold it back up. But portability isn’t the only innovation the Bells brought to their new game. The fabric board stays taut. The distinct barrel-shaped bags let you put a spin on your toss. The carrying bag’s mesh bottom lets sand and dirt fall through. And the holes in the board itself are lined with mesh, so they’ll catch your toss . . . and keep it off the ground. As the Bells can attest, everyone likes this fun, well-designed twist on a classic outdoor game. Even video-game obsessed kids.

Hi Allison, what was the inspiration behind taking cornhole to the next level with Turtle Toss?

@Mike Mike - we noticed how many people love the game of cornhole, but once you set up a traditional cornhole wooden board, that's where it would stay indefinitely. Plus traditional cornhole boards are heavy and cumbersome, meaning you really have to be committed to playing it to set it up regularly. With our Turtle Toss set, we wanted to make a high-quality, portable game set that could be used in more settings and that would make for a constant companion for park hang out sessions, backyard parties and bbqs, beach days, and tailgating.

What has been the feedback from users and where have you seen it get the most use?

I was so excited to see this then I saw the cost. Well over one hundred for a game seems like alot, especially when it is replacing a game known to be a DIY. Why so much? Where is it made?

@Pam Hi Pam - thank you for your question. We use the highest quality aluminum for the frame, our bean bags are larger and have more fill compared to traditional cornhole sets, and the case the set comes with has a vented bottom for added convenience. All of these components offer a much higher quality feel compared to traditional wooden board cornhole sets and is ultimately far more portable (meaning you will be able to use it way more)! The game set is manufactured in China and we put together they sets here in the U.S.

But portability isn’t the only innovation the Bells brought to their new game. The fabric board stays taught.

The word you are looking for is "taut", not "taught".
