In an age of ubiquitous selfies, the perfect shot is rarely an arm’s length away. The selfie pole is a quick, clever way to extend your reach and open up a world of better photos. The telescoping rod lets you hold your smartphone or camera at a distance, snapping pics and videos of yourself, a group, or the surroundings. (To take photos, simply set a timer on the camera or with an app.) Maker Fred Kraftka was his family’s appointed photographer and was tired of being omitted from the photos. His answer was simple: A device that lengthens the camera’s distance from you. Because the selfie pole folds up small, it's perfect to store in a pocket or purse. Or carry it with the attached wrist strap. Get everyone in a group picture without a tripod. Take overhead shots for a new perspective. Whenever or however the next photo op arrives, you’ll be ready.

I saw these all over Turkey when I was there last month and wondered where I could get one. I will be purchasing a few for my tween nieces for xmas. Thank you!!!

P.S. Can you suggest a good app to set timer on camera?

@Jacqui Hi Jacqui. That is so great to hear! When we tested it, we simply used the timer on our phone cameras, but Fred might have some more suggestions.

@Matthew Hi Jacqui, Fred here. Most phones already have a timer app within the camera "settings". If you have an older Iphone just do an update and a timer will automatically download. If you have an android phone without a timer Google has a good app named "camera timer". LOL Thanks for the interest and enjoy.

@Fred Just got back from Italy. In Venice and Rome something like this can be had by nearly every roaming street vendor. Some also came with a small BlueTooth device that would activate the camera.

@John Hi John. The Selfie Pole concept is huge in Europe and Asia. It's such a good idea that it will soon be huge here in the U.S. also.

The BlueTooth buttons are available on line if you want one for a pretty low price.. We found that the timer is easier to use and less likely to break down. Warning! The BlueTooth buttons do not sync up with every phone.
