Drink Up, Pup!

Sad is watching a thirsty dog try (and fail) to drink from an owner’s water bottle. Sadder still is watching that owner then drink from the same bottle. Saddest has to be seeing a parched pooch try to lap up a puddle from a hot street. Dogs drink best from bowls. So give them what they want, even when you’re on the go. Slurpabowl is the clever solution that Claude Meyers and Peggy Woo came up with for their own dog, Lula. It’s a compact, collapsible bowl that clips right to your key chain or leash. It’s reusable, recyclable, and since you get six in every box, a terrific bargain. We think it’s a must for parents and pups with a busy summer planned!

Hi Daily Grommeters! Simply put, we love dogs. We love them for their independent spirit, their joyous souls, their loyal hearts and the fact that some of them can carry five tennis balls in their mouth at the same time. We are uplifted by their seemingly endless desire to run, stretch, and play for the ultimately simple reward of running, stretching, and playing.

So we've run with the idea that dogs, like people, enjoy the finer things in life. We've stretched our minds to develop clever, inventive and intelligent products without sacrificing style. Slurpabowls are your perfect companion's perfect companion. Collapsed they are only slightly larger than a credit card. Unfold them and they hold up to 2 cups of food or water. They're leak-proof, extremely durable and 100% recyclable. They can be used over and over again and can be attached to your leash if you don't feel like putting a wet bowl back in your pocket. We hope you'll try our Slurpabowls; we've found that both dogs and their people love them. We'll be checking in to read your comments and answer your questions. Thanks!

One tip if you try the bowls. Maybe our greyhounds were slow on the uptake, but we did find that the first two times we used the Slurpabowl they were a little wary. They only took delicate sips. But on our third trial/walk they took to it like ducks to water. (Bad pun.) So stick with it. They are amazingly re-useable. Good as new every time.

This looks cool. How many time can you use the bowl before it needs replacing?

I really like this. Can you fold it up when it is still wet?

I had to share this Slurpabowl idea that surfaced when we were testing out the bowl. They had great ideas about where to stash a Slurpabowl but the most creative idea was to use the bowl as a cereal bowl.

@Lisa-I have not thrown mine away yet so I don't have an exact number of how many uses you will get before replacing. The bowl has a nice soft stiffness to it and the paper is plastic coated. I would recommend shaking the water out of the bowl before folding to maintain the integrity of the product. I would expect that I will get dozens of uses.

@ Jay- From personal experience I have shaken the bowl out to get rid of any excessive water and then I fold. Scout and I are ready to continue our walk.

@Lisa, we've been testing the bowl for weeks and it shows no sign of wear. I'm presuming it's going to last for a long time. I just empty the water, fold it up and put it away. Good as new when I take it out next time. Great Grommet.

We don't have dogs, but we have many friends who do. This summer we are going to be houseguests at the home of friends who adore their dogs. This is a great and useful gift for them! Good idea.

My wife and I bring a Slurpabowl everywhere we go with our dog "zoe". The Slurpabowl in your back pocket and a bottle of water... is all you need for a outting with your dog!

As one of those "sad" and "sadder" dog owners I am so excited to have an alternative to "sharing" my water bottle with Jackson! Can't wait till they arrive (as we have a few more days of sharing as we wait)!

I just ordered your portable dog bowl and can't wait to receive it. I have tried other products that weren't truly portable. I love the fact that you can fold it up and put in your pocket and go!

I forwarded this onto all my dog lover friends. I think you've got a winner.

I wanted to let you know that the Daily Grommet is playing a critical role in the safe transport of 5 collie pups from Indianapolis, IN to Lagrange, IN tomorrow.

Their story begins in South Carolina, where they were cruelly dumped at one of the last shelters in the USA to use a gas chamber on dogs. They were in line to be gassed, but were rescued in time by being placed with Tri State Collie Rescue (serving OH, IN, KY and surrounding areas). They are very fearful and timid and have survived their ordeal of fear and abandonment by clinging closely and being inseparable—hence one driver (me) will be taking all five of them in one car to the foster home. All five of them curl up together and they ride peacefully in cars.

The logistics of getting five puppies to a destination three and a half hours away could be very difficult without Slurpabowls. Fortunately, they come six to a pack and each dog can have its own. This is crucial since one of the five pups has a case of kennel cough and, although he is medicated, having individual bowls will aid in keeping this disease from spreading.

So, I guess tomorrow I will be beta-testing the SlurpaBowls’ reliability in large scale transports. I will let you know how this works—but, boy, was I happy to see a six-pack of dog bowls when I went into the kitchen to pack up for tomorrow’s trip!
