Fantastic gas can

6/24/2019 by Debbie

I use to see my husband fill up plastic jugs For lawn mower and other equipment and he would spill the gas during the fill. These are fantastic although pricy it’s easy to fill and no more spills glad I bought him two.More > < Less

Owner observations after months of use

6/5/2019 by cbrillow

Overall, this is a great concept and I'm pleased that I bought it, even at the somewhat steep price for the 5-gallon model. If I were starting out again from square-one, I would probably buy the smaller version. (maybe 2 of them!)

Here's why: 5 gallons of gas weigh about 31.5 lbs. If you're filling the small tank of a lawn mower, that's a substantial amount of weight to lift high enough to accommodate the height of the mowing deck & engine + the length of the extended fill tube. It's a bit of a balancing act to do this and see the level of the gas as it enters the tank while trying to hold the can with reasonable stability.
The tank in my mower has baffles that prevent it from accepting fuel quickly, so I have to regulate the flow so that it doesn't fill too fast and overflow onto the engine. Several times, I'll have to close off the flow and let the fuel level settle before it will take more gas, holding the can up all the while.

This exacerbates another little niggle I have with the can. It's somewhat difficult -- at least on mine -- to activate the trigger with my thumb when I'm holding up the weight of the can high enough to put the fill tube into the tank. This is because I'm gripping the handle with my hand and my thumb is basically horizontal, reaching for the trigger, which is mounted higher and on an approximately 40 degree angle.

It's not difficult to reach the trigger, but there seems to be a 'stop' that resists its opening from this angle. The only reliable way to activate it is to reach over with my other hand to move the trigger past this stop before I can start the flow of gas. This, of course, means that I'm not helping support the weight of the can & gas with my other hand. I'm now holding it up entirely with one arm which is bent at about 90 degrees -- not the best position for maximum lifting/holding ability.

As I mentioned at the outset, given that I rarely need to fill a tank that holds much more than a couple of quarts at a time, I'd probably be better off with the smaller SureCan, and fill it from a either a larger one or a regular 5 gallon can.

First gas can that I have found that works

5/26/2019 by Phillip

This gas can works better than any other can that I have found. It seems a little pricey but it is worth it. I liked the first one so much I bought a second. Needless to say I heartily recommend this product.More > < Less

Sure Can - works great

This gas can is made to last. It works very well. I purchased the 5 gal unit. I wish I had purchased the smaller 2.5 gal version. The filled 5 gal is Heavy and I think I would have preferred the lighter 2.5. It's still much easier to use than a typical 5 gal gas can. Way Easier! I would buy this again.More > < Less

About SureCan

Better Fill Ups

Maker Brad Ouderkirk was fed up with spilling fuel on himself, his equipment, and his lawn (it happens to the best of us). So he created a Made in the USA gas can that eliminates spills as a better way to fill up.

SureCan dispenses fuel from the bottom, which makes it safer and more convenient to store and pour fuel. The durable container is not only easier to use, it also prevents any heavy lifting—and the flexible spout means no more awkward angles trying to fill a tank.

Brad didn’t stop at changing the dispensing location, he included a trigger release system to give you more control and an added measure of safety. Plus, he made the fill cap and spout child-proof, and the inner layer helps remove the smell of fuel. His redesign smartens up the filling up.
