Family Tradition

La Siesta hammocks are a beautiful blend of tradition and innovation. South American culture is synonymous with these relaxing enclaves and La Siesta’s original founders, Dorothee and Alexander Grisar, wanted other parts of the world to enjoy them. Handmade from soft organic cotton or a strong parachute fabric, these hammocks come in cheerful, vibrant colors that liven up a home, porch, or yard. Now run by Dorothee and Alexander’s children, La Siesta prides itself on improving performance and—where they can—using sustainable materials. Their suspension systems are innovative, designed for durability, ease of hanging, and comfort. Sit in your La Siesta solo, or snuggle up with one of the kids. It’s a cozy bit of heritage that the entire family can enjoy.

    @cindy Hi Cindy,

    The weight capacity on this hammock chair is 285 lbs.

    All of our hammocks are designed to be used indoor / outdoor. If you leave the hammock outside full-time, you will see some normal fading from the sun over time. For the longest life, we recommend storing your hammock indoors when not in active use. For example, bring your hammock inside if you do not plan to use it for winter or any other extended time.

    Thank you and enjoy!

    We purchased 2 chairs similar to this in design, except they were made of nylon rope weaved like a fish net, otherwise identical. We mounted them into a ceiling joist in a corner of the bedrooms (3/8" hook screw, like a big cup hook) while our boys were young. They absolutely loved them. That was 20+ years ago and we have moved one outside to hang from a branch for our grandchildren to swing in and just take it off the rope if it's going to rain. Ours easily hold 230 pounds. A very good investment.

    @Mike Hi Mike, Ryan from The Grommet Discovery Team here, thanks for your comment. One attribute of the La Siesta Hammock Chair that I found appealing in testing is the consistency in the fabric. Unlike a hammock that has the fish net/crossed rope design, the Hammock Chair is the weaved fabric that provides the added comfort and support.

    Two questions. What is the minimum ceiling height? Do I need to purchase additional hanging mechanisms? Thanks.

    @tom Hi Tom, Ryan from The Grommet Team here -

    The minimum ceiling height recommended by La Siesta is approximately 7 feet (7'1") from the ground. The required minimum height is 6'7".

    You would need to purchase an additional mechanism in order to hang the Hammock Chair. For your convenience, we have offered the Universal Rope on our site - see the "You Might Also Like" section.
