Spinal Tips

A posture tracker does more than make you look good. Better spinal alignment can boost energy, productivity, concentration, and confidence. Lumo’s devices can coach you to better alignment whether you’re sitting, walking, or running. Whether you're an office worker or anyone else who slouches, Lumo empowers you to straighten up. Attach the small wearable to a collar, clothing, or even a bra strap. Each day the Lumo Lift app shows if you've been slouchy or superb. For on-the-spot posture reminders, set Lumo Lift to vibrate whenever you're not sitting up straight. Or opt for the Coaching Sessions feature, which trains you to practice good posture at timed intervals. And for the runners out there, Lumo Run applies the same science to proper running form. Clip it on during runs and it measures cadence, balance, and braking—along with pace and distance. It analyzes your data and provides real-time feedback to correct your form, and provides pre and post run exercises. These posture-perfecting devices are a smart way to stand taller and become more attuned with your daily movement.

Hi, i watched the video but not sure how the device detects "poor posture" from only one point on the body. What is i'm sitting/standing straight from waist to neck but drop my head forward? will it detect that? thanks, maryann

  • Tansy
    Tansy – Special Guest
    4/21/2015 7:06 PM

@maryann Hi Maryann, the Lumo Lift detects poor posture by taking a snapshot of the posture you "align" the device in. This essentially sets a baseline angle the device looks for when tracking posture. If your body does not move and on your head drops forward, the device will likely be unable to detect that you're slouching. You could definitely experiment with where you wear the device so that it works best for you!

i have fairly significant kyphosis that is progressing with age. i am 66. will this device remind me to remain as upright as i can? since it aligns daily, am i right to assume that it conforms to each individual's 'normal' which in my case looks like a 'slouch' all the time although a reminder would keep me in better posture alignment. i would need it to interface with my laptop. what(if any) is the additional cost for that interface. i have no idea what a dongle is!

    jd

  • Mike
    Mike – Grommet Team
    4/22/2015 9:46 AM

Hi JD, yes, it will remind you to stay as upright as you can. Lumo Lift won't conform to a normal, it will continually send a reminder as it will sense the position of your shoulders and back. Those with scoliosis have found it be very helpful, but of course, you should speak with your doctor before use.

As far as the Windows Dongle, it is a small USB adapter that can be purchased on the Lumo Lift website for $20. It runs with PCs with Windows 7 or later.

The launch day conversation has ended. Please direct further questions about this Grommet to our Community Experience Team.

Lumo Bodytech

Posture and Activity Tracker

Hi Janet, I'll let Tansy chime in with specifics, but people with scoliosis have used it in the past and said it has been helpful.

Hi @Janet, @Mike is right! We've had a number of customers who have found Lumo Lift helpful with posture for people with scoliosis. However, it's always best to check with your doctor to double check!

Great product. Would like more info about how it actually reads or senses body changes. Also, what is wholesale info? We might be interested for our chiropractic patients.

    Thank you, Dr. S

Hi, i watched the video but not sure how the device detects "poor posture" from only one point on the body. What is i'm sitting/standing straight from waist to neck but drop my head forward? will it detect that? thanks, maryann

    Hello!

Is this an application for the Alexander Technique?

Hi Salim, I'm not sure if it officially is, but it certainly is a method that works to change movement habits in our everyday activities. In the case of Lumo Lift, it is through improved posture and fitness.

i have fairly significant kyphosis that is progressing with age. i am 66. will this device remind me to remain as upright as i can? since it aligns daily, am i right to assume that it conforms to each individual's 'normal' which in my case looks like a 'slouch' all the time although a reminder would keep me in better posture alignment. i would need it to interface with my laptop. what(if any) is the additional cost for that interface. i have no idea what a dongle is!
