Stop Frays Before They Start

You probably know the frustration of a frayed charging cable. The wiggling and partial charges are enough to make anyone crazy. The Klip by Tudia protects your Apple charger from fraying with two simple little cages around the cord’s stress points. The durable, silicone Klip slides easily onto the ends of your cable and snaps in place. It limits how much your cord can bend at the most stressful points, while still keeping it flexible. This reduces strain by up to 80% and increases the life of your charger. The Klip comes in a variety of colors to help organize your cables or just make yours easy to identify. So keep those expensive cables in great shape, as long as possible, with the Klip.

    Hi Judith!

TUDIA Klip is designed for a perfect fit and compatibility with authentic Apple Lightning, Apple 30-Pin, and Apple Watch charging cables. Although TUDIA Klip may work on similarly sized USB cords, we cannot guarantee compatibility with any cables other than official apple cords, as aftermarket cable designs can vary widely.

    Hi Lynn,

Unfortunately, we haven't tested the TUDIA Klip on that specific cable. Since cable designs can vary widely, it's hard to say it works with every cable.

We designed the TUDIA Klip on the specifications of Apple charging cords. The opening on the KLIP is about 3mm in diameter. If your cord is similar in size, it should be able to fit on your charger!

My problem has always been with the metal connector not the wire. If I pick up my phone when it is on the charger and accidentally pull on it, the connector is toast. My wife reads her tablet plugged in and sometimes does this too. I bet I have replaced at least half a dozen cables because of this. How can the klip help me with this problem?

    9/4/2015 1:24 PM

    Hi Andy,

Unfortunately TUDIA Klip only helps reduce strain on the cable when bent. Since the charger end has to be small enough to still connect inside your device, it's hard to add on additional reinforcement without interfering with charging. We will definitely consider solutions for the problem you've described. Perhaps that could become an upgraded feature on TUDIA Klip2.0?

Great timing... I was just grumbling about this today. Within our house we have 6 kids with iPads, iPhones, laptops etc and seems like I'm buying somebody a cord every week. I've wondered for at least a decade why somebody doesn't redesign the cable so that the cord sticks out the edge of the cable instead of the center so that it would reduce stress on it. Until then, this sounds like a wonderful solution. I like the different colors so we can tell which one belongs to whom. I'm ordering a multipack, or several of them, today.

    Hi James,

Thanks for the great question. When designing the TUDIA Klip we focused on Apple brand cables because their charging cords are the same, consistent size. Apple 30-pin, lightning, and iWatch cables all feature the same thickness in diameter. As a result, using the specifications for the official Apple brand cords allowed us to make a product that will fit perfectly and consistently for every user.

Outside Apple products there is a lot of variety in designs and varying differences between charging cords. Some are thicker and some are thinner, so a one-size-fits-all product is a bit more challenging to produce. We definitely appreciate your feedback and consider making a non-Apple compatible Klip our next project. Perhaps that could be a future Grommet launch!

    Hi Phyllis,

I will be happy to address your concerns. The TUDIA Klip is made of a two piece design. The colorful part is a soft silicone piece and the white part is a plastic clip. The two pieces arrive attached and you simply separate them from one another. Next, you slide the colored piece over the charging cord. There is a slit along the side, so it is very easy to insert your cable. Once the colored piece is wrapped around your cord, simply snap on the white clip to keep the TUDIA Klip in place!

    Hi Vanessa,

Thanks for the great question! TUDIA Klip was designed with prevention in mind; take action before damage starts! However, if your cable is already starting to show signs of wear and tear, Klip can help to keep that fragile cable working even longer. Depending on the level of damage the lifespan of your charger will vary, but hopefully TUDIA Klip can keep your charging cable working longer.

    Hi Susan!

Great question! The TUDIA Klips are completely reusable. They are easy to attach and detach from your charging cords. You can take them on and off as you wish and can move them from cable to cable as needed.

Would this work on a Apple Mac charging cable?

Hi Cindy, at this point, no. But I wouldn't be surprised if Klip has a Mac version in the pipeline. Stay tuned, you'll see any updates in the email!

Would these work with Bose in ear headphones. I find the cable breaks where it enters the the earphone assembly.

    @Pete

It sounds like you aren't alone in dealing with the frustration of easily damaged headphones. Perhaps The Grommet should look into launching a high quality / heavy duty option for supporters like you. I'm sorry to say, but based on our testing it looks like most headphone cables are a too thin, so the Klip can't easily stay in place. TUDIA Klip is truly best used on charging cables.

This looks fairly generic, and what I desperately need. I have a Samsung Galaxy S4 with a micro USB at the phone end. But being is going on the cable, wouldn't it work? The usb end would definitely work, they're standard.

    Hi Ken,

We designed the TUDIA Klip on the specifications of Apple charging cords, but it sounds like Mike has been able to the Klip on his Samsung charging cord as well! The opening on the KLIP is about 3mm in diameter. If your cord is similar in size, it should be able to fit on your charger too!

Can this be used with the MB Pro power cable?

Hi Kris! Unfortunately, because of the thicker connection point, Mac Book chargers are the one type of Apple power cable incompatible with TUDIA Klip. We have discussed making a larger TUDIA Klip compatible with Mac chargers in the future. Perhaps a future product to be found on the Grommet!

What if your cable has started to fray already? Will this product help save the day?
