The Art of Letter Writing

Texting. Email. Facebook status updates. Today's modern man defines staying in touch by the speed of his thumbs, not by the crease of his envelopes. But the fact of the matter is that letter writing is still an art, and one that can never be fully replaced by digital means. The man who takes the time to pen a simple, heartfelt note will stand out as exceptional. Founders Nate Tan and Brett Nicol hatched their brainchild while busy business school students overwhelmed with interview thank-yous. Was there an easier way to mind their manners and stay caught up? Their Forgetful Gentleman correspondence systems contain everything a modern man needs to reach out with easy elegance, whether it be to say "thank you" or "thinking of you" or anything in-between. Both cigar box offerings come with twelve cards/envelopes (four of which even have postage), access to an online personal event reminder system, and a copy of A Forgetful Gentleman's Guide to Articulate Writing. The Linen system is an affordable anytime gift, suitable even for teens (start good habits young). The Letterpress system uses 100% cotton paper from the same Italian paper mill famed for supplying Picasso and Napoleon, and comes packaged in a gorgeous wooden cigar storage box (graduation gift, anyone?). Sure, email is essential, but with Forgetful Gentleman, you can give a guy a sophisticated alternative for those times when he really wants to make an impression.

Hi Everyone! This is Brett Nicol, one of the "original forgetful gentlemen." I'm sure you either know a forgetful gentleman or are one yourself...a busy, modern man (or woman) who has great intentions but struggles with the follow through. That's why we founded Forgetful Gentleman, to make it easy for men to be gentlemen. The products you see as today's Grommet remove all the obstacles that prevent us from writing and sending notes. I am here and would love to answer any questions you may have for me today, and hopefully I can help the gentleman in your life drop the forgetful!

@Erik G.: Of course we'd never forget about ladies...but the better gender doesn't bask in the glory of being forgetful the way men do. Perhaps "thoughtful lady" should be the women's extension.

@Gail: I will let Brett expand, but it's a small notebook that fits in an interior pocket of a suitcoat for you to use for jotting down your thoughts or other information. It is leather, has an interior pocket and an elastic loop closure.

@Katherine Klinger: While the Little Black Book has gained noteriety as the pocket companion of playboys with more show than substance, its a little known fact that

throughout history true gentlemen have always carried a Little Blue Book

to capture fleeting moments of inspiration and genius, wherever or whenever they may be. The Little Blue Book ensures you never let a great idea slip away!
