an okay idea

I thought it sounded like a nice cleaning tool. However, if you have wider grates it doesn't do much to clean them. I prefer a traditional brush after all.More > < Less

Disappointing, but likely my fault

6/5/2014 by Danny

Excellent service. I received the product very quickly. It is of good quality and very easy to get the grooves started. Unfortunately, I thinkely, I think my expectations were a bit too high for a board with grooves in it. Since the groves are burned into the wood, the overall size of the grooves don't match up tight enough with the grate surfaces to do any 'good' cleaning. You can certainly scrape off any big chunks of whatever may be on your grill, but in the end it really didn't do a very good job of cleaning the grates at all. To really get it clean for cooking I still had to resort to my standby metal brush.

The product does have an, "isn't that cool" quality, but when all is said and done, its really nothing more than a conversation piece.

The Great Scrape - Barbeque Cleaning Tool

About The Great Scrape

Clean Scrape

Preparing food on the barbeque requires fewer pots and pans than oven baking or cooking on a stovetop. But that doesn't mean that you can wash your hands of clean up duty. Now, there's a safe, simple way to avoid charred debris and buildup on the grates of your grill.

After accidentally ingesting wire from a metal grill cleaner, Andy Stadick teamed up with his brother and fellow grill guy Nathan Thompson to create an all-natural solution. Made in the USA of solid hardwood coated with a non-toxic, food safe mineral oil, the Great Scrape cleaner actually molds to your barbeque grates forming grooves customized specifically to your grill.

Put an end to grimy grates and metal brushes with a grill cleaner as effective as it is aesthetically pleasing.
